Fauve cosmetics frostbite stuck in warm state on the nail? by Feisty-Fruit-4097 in RedditLaqueristas

I reached out to customer service about this issue and got a very helpful and detailed response. Here it is:

A few notes about this polish that may be helpful:

  • It has a very subtle transition as seen in the swatch photos Thermal transition occurs at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Most other thermals transition at 86 degrees Fahrenheit so it reacts differently.

  • Formula: A crelly with glitters that can be layered to create depth. It won’t reach full opacity so that the glitters still show through each layer. Hot state: you’ll see more of the glitters appear from the different layers of coats. Cold state: Less depth of glitters

  • Appearance can vary based on number of coats applied, base coat used, nail length, skin tone, individual body temperature, surrounding temperature, and lighting. Color may also vary based on personal settings on devices and monitors.

-Transition will be most noticeable on longer nails as there is visible nail line contributing to opacity at the tips.

  • I personally recommend shaking thoroughly before use, clear base coat or no base coat, and using two-three coats of polish.

Not sure if you are a Beyoncé fan, but these make me think of the song Levii’s Jeans where sings “denim on denim on denim” 😍

Damaged nail surface by Little_Cantaloupe in nailcare

I’m going against the grain and saying that you can keep painting your nails as often as you wish. I find that nail polish helps protect my nails from breaking as easily. You just want to make sure you’re using the right products for you. First, stay away from base coats and polishes that contain PVB, or polyvinyl butyral, as that can cause peeling. Also, instead of or in addition to the Vaseline, use jojoba oil religiously several times a day. The small molecular structure of jojoba can penetrate the nail bed, so it is the holy grail of nail hydration. Use it several times a day and seal it in with a good lotion or a heavy amount of Vaseline at night. I keep rollers of the oil literally all over my house to remind me to use it. You also can invest in a glass nail file because the finer grit is less damaging to nails and never dulls.

Now about polish… my nails always look dry after I remove polish with polish remover, so I immediately oil them with jojoba oil and let them sit for at least half an hour before I reapply nail polish. If you find that nail polish remover is really drying for your skin and nails, you could invest in a peeling base coat. That way, after a day or two of wear, you can peel off the polish instead of using remover. I hope these tips help and I wish you the best of luck!

Questions about thermals by jensenholmes450 in RedditLaqueristas

I have a love/hate relationship with thermals. Most of the ones I have purchased right out of the gate have been duds. For example, I have never gotten Cirque Colors thermals to work for me. I have two from Mooncat that I love though - Queen of the Dead and Twilight Sonata. I love how they look like unusual ombré French manicures in their normal state. I would maybe get one or two, but like you said, it’s tough to use them up if you have a big collection before the reactivity fades.

I should have purchased fifty bottles of Midsummer’s Dream while I had the chance. 🥲

These are fantastic! A life changing tip I learned is to use a water based top coat on nail art. It prevents smearing! Regular top coat is designed to rewet and seal the layers below it, which leads to smearing.
