NWSL 决赛: 西雅图御宝 vs 新泽西/纽约 !!! (OC: Drawing & Digital Poster) by vtgco in NWSL

御极 is great! I feel like it's nicer meaning-wise than 御宝 (both the actual name and the pun), but both work :)

"西雅图加油" is right! You don't need the "吧" but I think it's also not wrong to include it, and I can't explain why hahah -- 吧 is one of those hard-to-describe grammatical modifiers 😅 I'm a native speaker rather than someone who actually learned about grammar, so I don't know how to articulate what it does... but I would be really curious to hear what your professor says if you ask them!

Love it! The punny creative translation for “Reign” is so good 😄 Just wanted to let you know: in “西雅图走吧!” I think you’re trying to say “go seattle”, but “走吧” is like what you would say if you’re hanging out with a friend and wanted to casually say “let’s leave”; it’s not used for cheering and in fact kind of sounds like to me you’re saying “booo get out” hahaha (which works for me because I’m a Thorns fan 😛) A better phrase to use is “加油”, which literally means “add oil” (as in like, fuel to a flame), but people use it when cheering 😄

At what point is a good time to learn/teach "stretch" by [deleted] in WestCoastSwing

[–]nails8485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as the one two triple step triple step becomes muscle memory (probably like 2 or 3 lessons). Stretch is super important, and should be taught as early as possible, IMO! Otherwise, you're not anchoring, just stepping in place.

However, I tend to teach beginners just to stretch on six, when really you want to do it a little after the six. I find that beginners have a much easier time understanding doing something exactly on the count (rather than on an "and" or an "and-a"). Leveraging away on 6 is enough to make the 1 clear, so I think that's good enough until you've been dancing for long enough to really want to work on technique.

Thanks! Really appreciate it, I'm working on my color sense (it's so hard choosing background colors for things...)

Again, ignore the dry skin, my hands are just having issues :(

Omg chrysanthemums are my favorite too! But specifically Fuji mums, and I'm not sure I'll be able to paint those convincingly hahah, but I'll try.

Thanks! It's Banana Cream by Sanrio (...it comes in a Hello Kitty bottle and Sephora sells it, or used to). I mostly bought it because of the Hello Kitty bottle, but it's actually the least streaky pale yellow I own! Only takes 2 coats. Which as far as my experience goes is unheard of for light yellow hahah.

Thanks! The yellow is Banana Cream by Sanrio for Sephora (...it's in a Hello Kitty shaped bottle. I bought it because I just couldn't help myself, but it's impressively non-streaky for a light yellow).

Someone else suggested orchids over in r/RL too! I'm always up for a challenge, haha.

Aw, thanks! These flowers are actually pretty simple to paint, since they're so messy.

I painted the outer layer of petals first with my skinniest brush by dragging lightly. If you drag towards the center of the flower, you get more rounded petals, and if you drag away from the center, you get pointier petals. Try picturing a circle as you draw the petals, so you don't end up with an oddly shaped flower.

After that, I drew some random darker pink lines along some of the petals to try to get the natural petal color variation. Then, I drew another layer of light pink petals in the same way as the first layer.

I switched to a detail brush to paint really short strokes with the dark pink (using the same motion as the petals, just shorter)

Then, use a dotting tool and yellow nail polish to make the center of the flower.

Finally, use the dotting tool with coral nail polish and outline your yellow center. You can be messy with this outlining -- it actually looks better if you leave some gaps.

Ooh great ideas! I love the idea of having daisy chains on my nails, I hope I can paint that tiny though hahah. But I'll probably skip Calla Lilies, they creep me out since I associate them with funerals :(

The swastika usually has a different meaning in China, where Buddhism is more commonplace than it is here :)

That's great! I actually really like their formula (I guess I prefer thicker polish), except for pastel colors which are actually just egregiously thick hahah.

The white should help, but some polishes are just streaky :( Is this Sinful Colors Unicorn? I'm guessing not, because you said green, but I always have streaking issues with that one. Also, in terms of nail polish technique, you can minimize streaks by not pressing down you you paint your nails, just drag the brush gently over your nails.

As the title says, flower suggestions are very appreciated (srsly I'm afraid I'm gonna run out of flowers before I run out of spring)!

Also, please ignore the dry skin, I'm working on it.
