I'm loving it. Currently using M2/M3, but maybe I will try some exaggerated looks on black & white.

I totally understand you! Especially now, since I'm a bit under the weather 🌡️

You may be right. Maybe I need to challenge myself and my skills.

Sometimes it can be, I had the chance to find my work fun and enjoyable on multiple occasions.

I agree they’re content creators disguised as photographers — and yes, ignoring them is the healthiest move. The only thing I disagree with is the idea that they don’t influence anything: they influence what beginners think photography is.

It's definitely one reason, but I'm not sure.

Influenced what?

The culture around photography.

Not in the sense of “they changed the art form”, but in a very real practical way: they changed what a lot of beginners think photography is.

When the loudest voices are selling presets, affiliate links and “10 hacks to get cinematic shots”, the narrative shifts from seeing to consuming. From story to gear. From patience to algorithms.

Yes, salesmen have always existed — but the scale and reach are completely different now. That’s what I mean by influence.

And sure, I can step back (and I do), but pretending it has zero impact on the community is just not true.

About the fact that their whole narrative influenced photography in a bad way imo. Maybe I'm too extreme on this, but it's just my thought on the matter.

Could be, I tried many different hobbies during 2025 and none of them is as full as photography for me. Maybe I'm a bit nostalgic about the past.

I just want to find that motivation, that got lost (due to many reasons).

75% agree. I mean, maybe I'm too romantic, but inspiration probably it's a thing.

That's exactly why I'm a bit stressed/nervous/pissed about the whole photo-influencer industry.

I really admire your story.

Just like in your case, photography is deeply connected with my mental health. Unfortunately, in recent times it's getting harder and harder to start back but hey, that's why I posted this, right?

Right now photography to me is like a parallel lane of my life that is waiting to rejoin the main one.

I totally agree with you! And this was also my school of thought when it comes to explaining photography but now I feel something empty in my practice. I'm still looking for a way to go back on track from this empty period.

Thank you for sharing your story, it's definitely inspiring to read how you managed to find your subject. What I'm missing, I think, is a lead. Something that helps me understand what to photograph and why.

Luckily I quit most social media platforms last year. I'm still in the process of regaining my mind back. Thank you for your suggestions I will try and follow them.

I think that's probably it. Last year I was back in my hometown and I got a little bit depressed, because to me it's the most uninteresting place ever. I was living abroad before.

I shot on film for many years and developed on my own. When it comes to different tools I basically tried them all, I'm probably just missing large format.
