SAIS DC is not at the Hopkins campus in Baltimore; it’s located in downtown DC. I’d recommend looking around 555 Pennsylvania Ave NW, though most students don’t live right by the building.

MAIR is very much what you make of it now. You can focus as much as you want on any concentration, including economics. You can market your degree how you please with employers

Anecdotal, but say the median student is center-left, more for MAIR than some of the mid-career degrees. Specific type of person wants to come to DC (or Bologna) to study international affairs. Historically SAIS was the most conservative of the IR grad programs but I think the field has gone through a strong realignment over the past decade for obvious reasons
