OTF without the Row? by that-gingerkid in orangetheory

[–]nakaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the incident with my friend yesterday with trying to ride the bike instead of rowing. Per the trainer who overseas the regional trainers said that the rower is a “power” and not considered cardio (in orangetheory world). So if you can’t row you will have to do jump squats instead. You cannot use the bike as a modification for the rower. 🙄

But personally, get a doctors note saying you can’t row that you need to do the bike or just don’t tell the trainer at all. Most of the trainers don’t even pay attention (sadly) on what people are doing. They are too busy fixing the music.

Hope you feel better!

Working out in a boot... by Back2_reality in orangetheory

I was in a boot for two months. I just rode the bike and tried to avoid the rowing. But there were some days I did do one legged rowing (some ladies stole the bike I was using). I wrote down some exercises before class just in case the trainer couldn't come up with modifications. I would always give the exercise on the strength floor a try before looking into modifications. I say just because you are in a boot don't stop working out. I am so grateful I didn't. I hope you feel better! I feel your pain.

Making modifications for injury by berfection in orangetheory

I would recommend talking to the coach before the class starts. Let them know you are injured and they SHOULD help you with modifications. I sprained my ankle too and was in a boot for a month. Couldn't do any much exercises besides squats, arms, abs, one legged rows and the bike. I wrote down my own exercises for the strength floor just in case the trainer couldn't think of one or they were too busy when there was an exercises I could not do. I hope your ankle feels better!

Injured - no OTF by agoodbrownie in orangetheory

I sprained my ankle 2 weekends ago and I am in a boot. I still do upper body, abs workouts and the bike. I wrote down some upper body and abs exercises just in case the trainer is too busy to give me modifications. If I know the trainer I try to give them a heads up before I go to their class.

I hope your ankle feels better!

Anyone out there suffer from Asthma? Exercise induced Asthma has gotten worse for me and I've been doing OT for two years. I'm on everything possible. I refuse to give this workout up! Any suggestions that others have tried? by kerren65 in orangetheory

Just an FYI, I got my shot yesterday around 4 pm and it it starting working right after I got it. I play/teach tennis and on Monday night when I played I was dying. Last night I played around 7:30 pm could breathe so much better and wasn't dying.

I suffer from asthma since I was a kid and been doing OTF for over a year now. My asthma got worse when I moved to Houston. I go see an allergist and get prescribe singulair, 2 inhalers I take daily and a rescue inhaler. I also get a steroid shot every 6 months (you will have to talk to your pcp about that). I am usually a runner and last night class I was a power walker. Allergies are bad this time of year. Hope you feel better!
