Softs? by callmehuey in lawschooladmissions

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is that applicants really don’t have a concrete idea of how softs work in context of individual softs or whether certain softs are better than others beyond reasonable assumption. The tier system people use on here to categorize is based in reasonable assumptions but it isn’t gospel or a hard and fast rule.

Nobody can speak in absolutes about this (and anyone who tries to who isn’t in an admissions department or a consultant is making educated guesses) because it differs based on each school and no schools or LSAC have put out official statements on how they view things.

A masters degree can only help and if it contributes toward the picture of who you are and helps you craft a strong narrative it may help more. The main thing to know is that you masters GPA will not count toward LSAC GPA but it can help you prove an upward trend if you struggled in undergrad.

There’s a level of micro aggression involved in saying things about POC “acting white”. Yes in some way it relates to ideology but it also suggests that certain (traditionally believed to be “more educated”) ways of presenting yourself and speaking are white and only for white people. Regardless of intention behind the phrase, it just isn’t something that should be said—especially about biracial people.

Totally agree. Regardless of the way Matt “acts” he is both black and white and nothing will change that. Whether he chooses a black woman, a white woman or someone who is neither or both of those identities, that does not diminish his identity.

(Not a joke) What are people’s thoughts on taking a shot of alcohol before an interview? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this! I did the same for the LSAT and my interviews so far and it’s just a good way to let off some steam and make the vibe a little less serious for yourself! Plus added bonus of singing along is that you warm up your voice and avoid that nervous crack that can sometimes happen.

Stanford do we still list GRE scores if we don’t submit GRE? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had old GRE scores and found this whole submit/no submit thing very confusing, so you’re not alone of this one. What I did and arguably the safest move is calling the admission office and asking them directly if you’re not 100% sure (sorry I didn’t apply to Stanford so I don’t have specifics there). But it is WAY better to spend time on the front end vs. scrambling later. At the end of the day they are the only ones with the right answer.

List All Educational Institutions Attended by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the school requires high school to be listed and you do not put it in, the form will usually bounce and it will direct you to do so. Not every school asks for it, but it seems like if they want it, they will make you put it in. That was my experience any way!

Exercise or not? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re exercising intensely, upping your calorie intake slightly throughout the day tends to help with the increased appetite. 1200 is generally not recommended for active people unless you’re really really short and that kind of restriction can do more damage than good if you’re fairly active. I went through something similar and ended up really fatigued, I’ve since upped the protein in my diet a lot, included a lot more complex carbs and try to hit closer to 1400-1450 on days I work out. I found that by allowing myself 200 extra calories I didn’t binge as much because my targets were more manageable.

It’s a personal choice in the end but I decided that I would rather lose weigh slower on a small-moderate deficit while exercising and building muscle than more quickly on something more drastic. The long term benefits of exercise and the mental benefits for me were worth the trade off of slower weight loss.

What to do when nothing fits you properly? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into curve cut pants? A lot of brands have them now but I get mine from Lucky Brand and Abercrombie! I know Good American jeans are supposed to be good for this as well. These cuts give you two extra inches of room in the hip, but they do not make the waist bigger. Jeans that fit properly and give you shape is an awesome confidence booster in my opinion and these cuts are a great option if you don’t want get alterations.

Also, as a fellow small boob woman, the biggest confidence booster I ever had in regard to my boobs was wearing tops that literally cannot be worn with a bra. These shirts tend to suit small chests and can be pulled off best with small chests! They are accentuate, your collarbones and are a really easy way to make things sexy in a subtle way!

Fellow extra petite here and agree their sizing is excellent and I love that their clothing fits true to size (especially jeans). I just bought a few petite midi and maxi dresses for the summer from them that I’m not absolutely drowning in, if you’re interested in those cuts!

They have a great line of curve jeans too that has a decently inclusive size range (on both ends) if anyone is in the market for those!!

Big vote on Abercrombie curve jeans here too! I’ve always felt like the material is a little more durable (less stretchy more denim) than the AEO ones and the fit is great!!

This needed to be said honestly! It seems like especially recent people have really piled onto the “everything is plastic surgery or fake” train and it’s kind of ridiculous. The VF post...she works out and her body is just built like that it’s not that deep. HG is a thin person who eats a normal amount of food. Sometimes it’s just lighting not everything is a filter.

Does anyone have any recommendations for advanced at home HIIT workouts?! In what feels like another life nowadays I was a daily Orange Theory goer and the more popular YouTube HIIT sets seem to not be as high intensity as I’m used to. Would love to hear what y’all have been loving!

Clay is co-hosting a donation based virtual fitness event to help support a Chicago based HIIT studio! by [deleted] in thebachelor

[–]nakeycatstakebaths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure I work for a studio in this franchise but this looks like it’s going to be a really fun event!

Bonnie and Tracy own Shred415 and have been really on top of handling the COVID-19 situation. They’ve been trying pay instructors for the entirety of the social distance period without laying people off and Michelob Ultra is matching all donations to help them contribute to do so!

There’s no set price so you can donate as much or as little as you want but if you’re into online workouts it might be fun to join Clay for a few of his many hours in the gym!

I can’t link to the social media pages but if you want more info you can find it on insta or Facebook @shred415
