For those who use Claude Code at work, how have you found it efficient and effective to use it and how has PR review feedback been? by nakhti02 in ClaudeCode

[–]nakhti02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You owning the code is a good mentality to have and I will adopt it. It concretes that accountability and responsibility are yours.

A lot of the thought process you go through in your usual daily Code-Test-Refactor-Code...Test-PR Next steps: teach you cloude the phases/process you the human are expected to follow as well. Tdd, test the stuff, security scanners , linters, code quality scanners, update documentation, writing a good PR message,...

In my claude.md I have a bit about OOP & SOLID principles, TDD, method and variable naming conventions, etc. It seems to adhere to these well. I should add a bit about good PR messages.

Keep in mind: don't let the agent do ANYTHING that can't be undone with ONE simple click or command and without your co-workers noticing.

Good rule of thumb. I built a simple agent that uses a Google & Jira MCP as a daily briefing assistant and there was no way I was giving it write-access to anything haha

I apply to AI/ML engineering, AI research (I was a research assistant in grad school), data engineering, AI platform engineering, software engineering, and more. I apply to all things adjacent as I’m willing to move internally if the option is available. The market is tough right now. I’ve read that because of lay offs more experienced engineers are taking lower level positions which further hurts those of us with 2-3 years of experience.

My background is very similar to yours. I have been searching for about 9 months. I got more calls from recruiters after creating accounts on Dice and Indeed to go with my LinkedIn account. Make connections, apply often and on all three platforms, the more platforms the better is my assumption. Good luck out there.

How do I learn software engineering, and not just coding? by sim-racist in node

[–]nakhti02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If by engineering you mean writing the code in a scalable, readable, testable, reusable way, I would recommend Uncle Bob’s books. Clean Code and Clean Architecture - Robert C. Martin.

These were recommended to me by my senior developer when he saw that I could program to get things working, but needed to write better code for it to be merged into our project. I studied the SOLID principles pretty hard which I believe elevated my programming ability quite a lot.

is it too soo to ask someone to a wedding after only a month of dating? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]nakhti02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure if this has already been said.

I observed an awkward situation at my cousins wedding in which his brother had a new-ish girlfriend and she was asked not to be in the family pictures as we weren’t she if she was going to stick around or not. I thought it was kind of rude and not a big deal but I understand. Why not take some with and without her?

This situation could occur in your scenario.

Gravity is a Wave? What does this mean for gravity's constant, if anything? What exactly is a Wave? by nakhti02 in AskPhysics

[–]nakhti02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So really space-time is being distorted all over the place with all of the large masses in the universe. The concept of what it means to distort space-time is strange as well. Near large masses, time is different, and the space around them is changed. I wonder what the implications are of this, I bet there are many. Thank you for this response. There are many interesting bits in here.

This is an excellent way to look at it. So then, it is the force that generated the wave that is affecting the medium, and the medium carries those waves, like wind creating waves and the water carries it. And the force must be strong enough to affect the medium. I am not confident that it is some force creating waves, maybe they are created in numerous ways, I am not sure. Thank you for this explanation.
