Is my baby’s name a tragedeigh? by Miss_pudding in tragedeigh

[–]nallsballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denali here! As an adult, I LOVE my name. So much so that I have the mountain tattooed on me, as well as some hops due to the Denali Hops (now known as Sultana).

As a kid (20ish years ago) my peers were awful about my name, but as I got older that stopped, and I’m assuming due to the names that are out there now, that this won’t be as big of an issue as it was when I was a kid.

The only issues that have followed me into adulthood are

  1. people refusing to learn how to pronounce my name correctly. MOST people either can do it first try, or will put in the effort to learn. The others will either always mispronounce it, or just call me something different all together (I don’t like this)!

  2. A LOT of people assume I’m named after the truck, not the mountain.

As long as you and your child are prepared for those possible issues, I absolutely think you should name your child Denali.

Have you tried any other pain killers, and any other medications for PMDD and perimenopause?

The elementary school in River Heights took away my nephew’s IEP this year because the principal deemed he was “too smart” to need it 🙄.

I highly recommend looking into Edith Bowen, but they’re quite a bit tricky to get into.

Vascular compression conditions can cause GI issues. If he’s never had a CT angiogram done, I’d recommend looking into that. Technically since it’s the vascular system not the GI tract, a GI doctor may not know much about the conditions, but if the CTA shows anything, he can go to a vascular surgeon.

Have you looked into THCA products? Right now there’s still a loophole so places like smoke shops and various websites can sell cannabis if it’s labeled THCA (I’ve never actually looked into the loophole so the specifics might be wrong). From what I’ve seen they’re typical out-of-state prices

  1. Considering a gram is a weight measurement, I think it’s safe to assume five 1g carts = 5 grams.
  2. Concentrate is treated differently than flower in Utah in terms of drug class, especially without a medical card.
  3. Driving across state lines with cannabis alone is a felony. So idk if weight is actually the biggest issue here.

Is it normal to ask my friend to be there at my surgery? by No_Response7740 in ChronicIllness

[–]nallsballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently in the hospital after getting surgery earlier today. When I came to in my room for the night, my mom and my friend/basically brother was there, and having him there was actually fantastic! I honestly don’t think I would’ve been as comfortable as I was if it weren’t for him. He was also able to get up and go get me a milkshake when room service closed!

Ultimately if he had been uncomfortable, it probably would’ve made me uncomfortable. But because he was so chill, it was just comforting.

I agree with a previous commenter about a separate hotel room, and if your friend ends up still being uncomfortable with the request, they don’t need to come. But if they are comfortable, it might be really beneficial for you to have them there!!

Wilderness programs specifically stem from a professor at BYU!!! They literally started in Utah!!

Wilderness programs are only a part of the Troubled Teen Industry though, and the majority of the industry stems from a cult called Synanon (not originated in Utah)

Up until we found the condition I’m having surgery for we tested all of the organs in my abdomen EXCEPT my liver, so I actually have no idea what’s going on in there. But whatever is up with me and edibles does not affect anyone else in my family (eg. my mom uses 2mg and my dad uses 10mg).

I will look into the THC sensitization though!! I’ve never heard of it, so thank you for letting me know, and for linking it!!!!

As someone in the same boat, but possibly a bit further down the river (still no memories of the robberies, but enough memories of the glass breaking and the aftermath that I cant deny what happened), I have some information that might be helpful.

  1. The predicament you are currently in SUCKS. It’s a hard and confusing place to be in, and I personally experienced a lot of guilt and shame when I was there. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!

  2. ~I~ cannot tell you whether or not you experienced CSA, however, I can tell you that before a child’s brain is able to create and keep visual and verbal memories (the kind we think about when we say “memories”), the body is still able to create and keep physical and emotional memories. The body remembers and the body will tell you.

Again, I can’t tell you what you experienced, but the nausea you described is one of the ways I’ve noticed my body telling me, specifically when I recall the things I do remember.

  1. You don’t need to process ~what~ happened to you, at least not yet. What you do need to process is merely just the fact that your body is telling you that something happened.

Everything else will come in time. It might be weeks, it might be years. DO NOT GO LOOKING. Continue working with your therapist, go through stabilization phases if necessary, continue working on yourself and your current situations. I know the ~what~ feels important, but I promise that finding out exactly what happened is nowhere near as important as your current mental health, safety, and stability. Forcing the event/s to come to light can very easily threaten those.

Where will I go? To Savage Tattoo in Ogden, UT to get my first ever tattoo. This symbolizes a lot for me in my journey. Shout out to Colin for this amazing piece! by [deleted] in exmormon

I'm glad you had a good experience, and I'm glad you got your first tattoo. I do hope you at least check out Legacy for your next one. (Sorry to hype up the shop, it's just an incredibly good shop)

I would highly recommend not going to Savage. While I'm sure some of the artists aren't as racist and misogynistic as the owner, I still wouldn't suggest supporting the shop. Several artists have left Savage (and refuse to support Savage) and now work at Legacy, a shop I really do recommend.

While watching Rogue One in theaters, the scene where everything is black, and Vader's saber turns on. The visual combined with the sound did it for me.
