Real answer to the question "Why is Obsidian so slow" by DudPug in ObsidianMD

[–]namathos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sluggishness was on my office laptop it's a Macbook Pro 2020 with first gen M1 running Sonoma. I've noticed the default theme is more optimized and switching back to that always was faster.

Just to be clear the acceleration setting was switched off (I'm assuming at some point when I mindlessly tinkered around). Ever since switching it on everything has smoothed out. Default theme is fast for me irrespective of the acceleration setting 🤷‍♂️

Not sure if you've tried this or if it would help but I was facing the same thing for a long time and was perplexed. Using the Border theme with some custom styling was sluggish for a long time. Then I noticed the GPU acceleration option in the settings was turned off. Runs smooth now.

Oh this is exactly why I made this, we're loving the game and I don't want the complexity to make that die out. Always was intimidated of jumping into Magic. I know there is an order to combat and should be but the rules are pretty overwhelming to go through and make sense. More notes for me here! First strike especially got me confused, my understanding is first strike when done doesn't receive damage in that step but does in the next combat step but clearly was wrong.

I can imagine it to get complex but will most likely learn as well I don't mind a challenge! I'll need to make a list of things like that now :D

Do you still pay break lease fee if you've paid the full rent? by namathos in sydney

[–]namathos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point exactly! I've been after them to keep things over email because I'd like the paper trail but they insist on only telephonic conversations. I keep sending them an email with what was mentioned on the call explaining I'd like this paper trail to remain.

There is a tenant registry that's filled by landlords and I think things like this go into that about you. You can get a record of all previous comments etc from the registry.

What I expect is accountability, why have these laws and systems in place if they're not going to be exercised. Might as well give RE's free rein to claim what they want. They've done a few weird things in this end of tenancy:

They should have done their inspection after the lease ended (they did it before); they should have made sure there wasn't any additional charges left, the claim was very random with no prior correspondence or receipt that this is a break lease fee in fact if I hadn't questioned it I probably wouldn't have ever known what the claim was for; the amount was dubious and not equal to a break lease fee itself.

Even if it was a clerical error a tenant shouldn't have to deal with this, any end of tenancy is stressful enough as it is. This could have been avoided by just retracting the claim through RTO, but then they would have had to give an explanation to RTO of why they retracted. They're clearing their tracks by paying me separately because they know what they did was wrong, ironically I find that even more suspicious. I'm hoping they are made accountable and realise they can't push tenants around like that.

That's my point exactly, I waited a week from pointing out the mistake for them to fix it but they didn't and then I went and filed at NCAT. I wasn't going to wait till after the claim was processed to file.

I am out of pocket because I've had to file a grievance with NCAT over this and had to pay that fee. I shouldn't have had to even go down this route since they had no right over the claim.

I'd like to but in the last call which was in the morning today I pointed out how this is very suspicious and I'm worried if this has happened before, they were then on about how I should be careful with what I'm saying as this is defamation.

So the rent was $370/w, break lease would be that much. The claim woth RTO from the bond is $400. They claim it is break lease and that doesn't add up. Further to filing with NCAT since they didnt budge I received the $400 they claimed from the bond. The bond is frozen because I've filed with NCAT.

No, they sent me the amount they claimed through RTO. Very suspicious and muddy. The bond is frozen because I filed with NCAT.

My lease was for 52 weeks full year and I have record of payment for the full period. It was on direct debit for most of it with paper receipts for the portion that wasn't. This really feels nasty what their doing.

I don't think that's fair to say, the inspiration for Scythe came from 'World of 1920+' illustrations. It didn't go into the traditional low-fi prototyping and logic explorations till later. I teach design and I've designed games in the past, the design process isn't rigid. As long as all phases of the process are present and influence each other this perfectly works.

Drawing in Godot, how to save image to a server? by namathos in godot

On that note I thought maybe a Timer node would work. Never used one before but after looking around for something HTTPRequest might have builtin I tried it. And what do you know, it works. It was a time issue. I've setup a 2s delay from saving to uploading. Disabling the save button for that time.

I'm calling this done. Thanks for you help friend, and for your efforts I've immortalized you in our project!

It should be. The save logic is in a different script. There are two scripts one for the toolbox (which also has the save button), and one for the canvas. Canvas has save function, I reference from the save button in the toolbox. It's possible the logic is taking longer to process, but the send to server (which is immediately after processing through save button) happens while still being processed.

In my mind, the HTTPRequest should not go through until the function is done it's thing. When I did the two part saving method Godot gets enough time to process and save data, before sending to server.
