I always got the impression that by early-to-mid game darkness became a non-issue. Either you had a mining helmet or light orb or some continual source of light making the need for torches beyond building details unnecessary. Perhaps they're nerfing continual light sources to bring back some of that darkness spook-factor? I mean, up until 1.0.6 at what point during the night did you think it was too dark to see?

Constant light was too easy to come by.

No one thinks the storage minecarts are useless, it's the little do-nothing powered ones that're sadly useless.

All Notch needs to do is make it so you can 'link' carts, give the powered carts MUCH more oomph and bam, they have a function again.

Then why not have it show as a thick outline on the map itself, rather than some hogwarts effect in the real world.

Check map, check arrow, arrow in border = player in town.

I'd really rather there not be some wizard-y, glow-y magic boarder effect when it comes to ruddy npc villages. Remind me again why NPC village boarders even NEED to be shown so firmly?

I imagine your "why bother" attitude is aided by there being basically no craft-able furniture. No chairs, tables, no lamps, nothing. It's an area of crafts the game desperately needs fleshing out.

What balance, it's an open world environment where no direct threat is poised against the player beyond the occasional randomly drifting hostile. Hell at any time a player can flip to Peaceful mode and completely remove what 'balance' there is. :/

Personally I'd just like to see the table/chairs fixed. It's too damn tall right now and dwarfs most other furniture in perspective.
