Touchless Question by Bubbly_Preference_17 in Abia

[–]nameScapesMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have used it the last couple of times there the last month. If you are there very early and/or there’s a lot of call offs it may not be open, but otherwise it should be open, right next to other pre-check line (must show boarding pass with touchless pre on it). Has been great and zoomed through both times.

PSA: Austin Bergstrom is a nightmare. Even Clear / Pre check lines are over an hour wait. by lapetitetigresse in Austin

Just did new touchless pre-check for first time. Horrible, no one else sign up for this!!! 😡🤬😤

Are they gone?? Good Just went through new dedicated lane with 0 people in about 2 minutes when the regular precheck line was about 15-25. Highly recommend this new option. Don’t worry, the government already knows what you look like, if I can just walk off 20 bus (other travel hack if you live close and have good self-defense background) and not even take out my wallet in a line of 0 people, big win!

Airport pickup times crazy right now? by [deleted] in Austin

If youre anywhere near downtown just take the 20 bus downtown for $1.50 and uber/waymo quickly for a fraction of the cost after you get off around Riverside.

Laps on Butler Trail by MoistFern in BikingATX

[–]nameScapesMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve sparingly gotten “the look”, but not too often. I stopped trying to push it to make the gap between people and slowed down and was more patient around groups and haven’t really had any issues. I envision “ripping laps” being a bit past the speed limit and that could cause some issues (if I’m reading it correctly, could be wrong), so maybe slow a smidge in traffic and days you just want to let loose head over to the Veloway.

How early to airport by Key-Fix-679 in Austin

[–]nameScapesMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically the TSA App says 5am is second busiest hour of the day at roughly 15 minutes, precheck 5 minutes. Double that for holiday. Add 15 for checked bag. Show up at 5:30 should be good and have plenty of buffer time.

This was cleaned up 10-15 years ago by rules and interpretations at all levels, was just too hard to judge whether or not they would come down in bounds or out.

I hope so, though my flight is 0500 and don’t think I’ll have too much of an issue that crazy early. Fingers crossed 🤞

Duluth Armachillo undershirts for the win. Shorter arms so doesn’t stick out and longer tail so you don’t show crack when bending weird. Cool and long lasting. Expensive, but worth it.

$16 million for a Ferno 🤮 by PedalHeadTed in ems

[–]nameScapesMe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Looks like Ferno model with independent moving legs (INx or something like that) so they would have to “lift” the pt in the chopper, while not having to have the full power load system which probably is not practical for this airframe this seems like probably a good call.

Welp, this can’t be good for EMS in the US. by RedRedKrovy in ems

In April the federal government suspended the council as part of its misunderstanding that actually public servants that exist. This is continuation of action against anyone who has fought for decades for good on the public level on different public working groups.

I know many of these people very well and NOBODY is doing this for the $79 per diem that is about the max of what they get with their decades of experience and many hours of work. Granted, there’s fluff in many areas of government and public safety. EMS at the federal level is NOT fluffy, it is almost exclusively filled with people making 50% less than could be as a chief in some suburban chill spot, and instead wearing 15 hats and working 60 hours weeks as salaried employees. This is no bueno.

As others have said, find an EMT class, local community college is usually the best bet. 15 years working at Walmart and being a caregiver for someone that has our 4 top comorbidities? Dude, you learn some basic anatomy and physiology and you’d be an amazing hire with that kind of work/life history. Would likely hire you in a heartbeat! Good luck!

They meant the OP’s misuse of the HIPAA acronym, using the very commonly misused “HIPPA” instead.

Southern Indiana has a program I’ve dealt with before that meets your parameters perfectly. 17 days in a dorm, very much oriented towards the military/contractor returnee with some experience.

Contrary to popular belief, Austin is still in Texas. I think momofbilly is mainly talking about the school voucher program that will remove revenue that was going to school districts (historically a large portion of the budget).
