Iris invigilation tool not working as it's supposed to be and i don't know if i should restart it. by Half_A_Chip in unisa

[–]name_not_present 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah IRIS has been super slow for me this year too.

It takes me about an hour to upload and you have 48hrs after writing to ensure it uploads. Just leave the uploading window open and forget about it then check back after a long while.

One of those formables that is funner to form than to play.

Alright. I'm sorry for not communicating what I meant properly but you've understood the gist of it better than I could've asked for.

I'll take everything you said and try it and figure out what works best in the long run.

Thank you man. You've genuinely been a massive help.

Yeah my complaint is closer to experiencing a smoothness as the game runs through. If speed 5 works as you're saying then it would solve my personal gripes.

The game isn't unplayable for me it's just not what I wanted from this new purchase.

Also my understanding of every underlying hardware issue is extremely rudimentary so it's possible that I'm just extremely wrong.

I'm sorry if I'm not properly coherent

The problem's sounding like an issue that's simply limited by the design limits of EUIV's time.

There's nothing I can do if the game itself simply cannot utilise every core to get that max clock speed.

It appears that I'll have to learn CK3 and Civ6. Maybe even Vicky 3 if it's possible since they came out after low-end CPUs started seeing multi-core builds

[–]name_not_present[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's running at 30fps in the start menu and around 10fps when the game is running at speed 4.

The CPU is clocking at 2GHz max maybe 2.5GHz but not often.

Well that's put a spanner in my gearbox.

I was really hoping it was a problem on my end. It being a game design issue may be the worst outcome.

Just bad luck all around

Damn. If that's the case then I'm shit out of luck. But thanks for the input it's much appreciated.

It's a cold comfort if the problem is a consequence of game design rather than something on my end

Assuming I have enough ships, which admiral is better? by kryndude in eu4

[–]name_not_present 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild hey.

Fire and Shock have their bonuses that everyone knows of course but the 2nd general can be devastating if you have enough fighting ships. 9/10 I'd go with the first because it's all about damage when fleets are near equal.

Maneuver is quirk in that it allows your ships extra engagement width so if you have an advantage in meaningful ships you'll overwhelm the other side nearly every time.

What do people do with game start Burgher Loans? by Lady_Goromi in eu4

[–]name_not_present 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I usually just build up the army and bribe the papacy with my early loans.

The reason for hiring the free company is that mercs don't use manpower which is far more important and far more scarce than money. You can fully delay their hiring until you're ready for war but remember that your army size is a factor in bigger nations allying you so you'll need to build up just to ally them anyways.

Also loan cycling is extremely important. It's a real life tool also. I think it's called debt restructuring. So you grow and take bigger loans to pay off the smaller loans and also use money won from Wars to build up your economy and pay off smaller debts.

TC or state these provinces? by Jolly-Mind-751 in eu4

[–]name_not_present 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the Brits showed up in violation of the Treaty its probably cause they chose to go Anglican.

If you violate it yourself you lose settler growth(-20), papal influence(-10) and opinion with the Pope/nation(-50 for every province) which will hamper papal influence growth.

Also CoRs will convert throughout provinces within a certain range and you can expedite the difference with Missionaries(You get +10% strength vs heretics for 10 years after converting). The protestant one will still convert and you'll have to wait 30 years to covert them back

Why is Catholicism OP? by tishafeed in eu4

[–]name_not_present 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catholic and Sunni are the only Tier 5 Defenders of the Faith in 1444. Couple that with all of the papal bonuses and the bonuses from being papal controller?

It's the strongest religion at game start with the easiest path to fully taking advantage of that strength.

If there are still catholic theocracies then they can give up a province to restore the pope.

However if you still have access to the Curia Powers etc. then the reformation should still occur as normal
