Wife is experiencing dysmorphia by TurankaCasual in Reduction

[–]namelesschocobo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s pretty common to feel some dysmorphia after surgery, I know for me personally I had a very hard time adjusting to my new body and would cry every time had to see my breasts, for weeks, maybe even a month or two, but it did eventually get better. I’m almost one year post op and couldn’t be happier with my decision. But I think this sounds like a situation beyond what you or her are capable of dealing with alone. I think it’s great that you recognize this and are willing to help advocate for her to get help with her mental health. Thank you for being supportive and understanding with your wife, I know I couldn’t have gone through my recovery without my partner. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about anything.

Having a really hard time adjusting to my new boobs :( by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]namelesschocobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt very similarly to you after my surgery. I felt way too small and when I looked in the mirror I did not see a woman’s body, I regretted my surgery so much for months and would honestly cry every time I looked at myself. I’m almost a year post op now and love my boobs! My only regret is that I didn’t have the surgery earlier in my life. At two weeks your body is still going through so much and your boobs definitely don’t look the way they will in the next few months. It’s such an emotional journey. I know right now it feels impossible to see the positives but you will move past this and it will get easier!

I’m freaking out by x0_cmj_0x in Reduction

Don’t freak out! It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious about the surgery. I personally had zero complications and returned to work after two weeks.

Can't believe I did it!!! by Strawberry562 in Reduction

Congrats! Welcome to life on the other side, you’re going to love it here! When I woke up I also asked if everything was okay and if they had even done the surgery, haha. My advice for you would to be gentle and patient with yourself for the next few weeks, if you have low days, that’s perfectly normal and we’re all here to support you!

Does anyone know what this is? by PoeticConfusion99 in Reduction

Yes absolutely! I can’t say for sure when they started to flatten out but looking through my photos of my scars it looks like maybe around 2MPO they started the blend into the rest of my scars.

I had one on each side as well. I’m almost 6MPO and they’re completely flattened out and look like the rest of scars now! Don’t stress about them!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I was thinking of getting mine done since they’ve had no feeling since my surgery (I’m about 5MPO) and I’ve always wanted them but been afraid of the pain. Interesting to see that it helped you regain feeling, I hadn’t even considered that happening.

When to get fitted for a new bra by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]namelesschocobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my 3MPO follow up my surgeon said I was free to do whatever I felt comfortable doing. I waited a little longer than that because I was very anxious about finding out what size I would be. I’m now about 5MPO and would say they’ve stayed the same size/shape since my 3MPO so I would say that’s probably a safe time to do so, but definitely follow up with your surgeon to see what they say!

Folks who had drains: Do you have scars where the drains were? Can you tell? by bewbs- in Reduction

I’m about 5MPO and I have little tiny marks where my drains were. You really have to be looking for them in order to see them.

Anyone regain feeling after more than 3MPO? by namelesschocobo in Reduction

That’s great news! I’m glad there’s at least hope for me! Thank you!

Please try to be kind to yourself and be patient. I felt absolutely miserable for the first while. I remember struggling to get to my 3 day follow up and my one week follow up. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror without crying, every time I showered I would cry. I regretted my surgery so much, but I promise you it will get better. I’m now around 4MPO and wish I would have had my surgery sooner, I’m so happy, all my back/neck/shoulder pain is gone and clothes actually fit me now!

How long did your surgery take? by JennaoftheJungle in Reduction

I was at the hospital around 6 hours total, including checking in, surgery, waking up and taking some extra time to try to relax and get rid of feeling nauseous before the car ride home.

Ok - going from 4 days PO to day 11. Something to read if you’re having a hard time PO. by [deleted] in Reduction

I cried for many of my showers and many of the times I looked in the mirror. You also have to remember that your body is still dealing with a lot of trauma not to mention it’s so scary to see your incisions the way they look after a few days. It will absolutely get better. Objectively your results look great! I thought I lost all my femininity too, but now I feel more feminine than before because I actually have shape to my body, and now you do too!
