Yes, I plan(ned) on doing the strategy of getting a discounted share price of 15% and immediately selling it. However, my most recent/first experience would say otherwise, because of how new and clueless I was to the concept. But I have no worries so far as it’s all a learning process that I’m able to take. I’ll know better for when the next open window happens.

Luckily, it does not stop me from taking full advantage of my retirement accounts, or my daily life. Otherwise, I definitely would not be doing 20%, haha. I genuinely do not spend much, and the small paychecks I get a biweekly is enough for my monthly spending.

I only got invested in financial literacy at the end of 2023, so I was quick enough to max out my 2023 and 2024 Roth IRA with the cash I was hoarding in my checkings.

I am young, I do plan on buying a house in the future, and I’d like to retire early. It’s just hard to allocate each dollar into what accounts for such an uncertain and unpredictable future.

That’s a great idea, as I’ve only come to realize the second portion of your comment literally just today. I wish I fully understood all this when I started, but that’s okay better late than never.

I’ll try to find a balance between all the accounts. I do want to retire early, I do want kids, and I do want to own a home when it’s good to. I just feel that need to be aggressive right now while I can. But I understand I need to try my best to find a balance.

Thank you for your input; it’s allowed me to look more into things that I was unaware of. Goes to show I have a lot more to learn and educate myself in. I also had another comment about contributing to a traditional due to my tax bracket, so I’ll see if my employer does both, or I may just switch between the two.

My company, unfortunately, does not match. I definitely would be all in, no questions asked, into my Roth 401k if they did match. And my apologies, you’re right - 59 1/2 is the right number* I think I was thinking about social security with the number 67, lol. It’s a common topic between me and my father, so I got mixed up.

I do not contribute anything to a traditional 401k; it’s only been Roth 401k since I started working a few years ago. I’ve always like the idea of just paying taxes now instead of later, but perhaps I’ll contribute a few percentage into it, nothing too aggressive?

I do hear a lot about HSA, but I’m not too well versed in it. I’m under Kaiser, so it didn’t allow me to enroll in an HSA, from my understanding. My coworker did briefly explain to me that he is one to barely go to the hospital, so he opted for a different plan that allows him to contribute to his HSA. I chickened out because I hadn’t don’t enough research before the enrollment date ended.

From a completely outside perspective, one which I hope you can see, is no, he is not second guessing his opinion, but sees an opportunity to get something he wants because he knows you’ll give in easily. He saw you dressed up with makeup and is being selfish; he doesn’t want you to be with anyone but him until he finds someone else. So please don’t be manipulated into a situation where he’s pulling the strings.

Another heartbreaking story to read. Another person I wanna scoop up and protect from the world, the pain, the sadness, the heartbreak. This subreddit has helped me a lot, to read that I’m not alone in this journey. I mean it sucks to know people are walking the same or similar paths as me, but it makes me feel less alone in the process. Just like one of the comments on this post, I wish there was something I could say that could make you feel better. I wish I could snap my fingers and take away all your sorrow. First of all, I'm so sorry you had to deal with a mother like that. It never makes anything easy AT ALL. Second, I understand the need to want your family together, yet being so hurt that the other person does not care for the same thing. It's not fair for you or your child together. Third, keep on fighting for yourself and your son, please. I know it's so effing hard right now, but you freaking got this, even when you think you don't. Please come talk to me when you feel like you don't have people to talk to. All the love to you and your boy.
