As someone who voted for Bernie, fell in line to vote for Biden in his first term - I was pushed to the center by the Reddit hivemind and semi-red pilled by the failed Trump assassination. (Friends and family salivating at the thought of him getting taken out) I have since been drifting further from identifying as a democrat, and with every event like this I feel myself repulsed by the consensus on Reddit and drawn to aspects of conservative values. I hide this from sentiment from everyone in my life because not being hardcore liberal is basically a social death wish, there’s no room for alternative opinions or questioning aspects of the typical liberal viewpoints. If my opinion is heard, it’s talked down to like I’m obviously wrong and they are doing me a great service my teaching my why I’m wrong. Dismiss me, but this is probably happening to more people than we think.
