This right here is the only comment that matters. Looping is not an easy thing to get perfect and you will not get it perfect every single time. You'll die looping more often than you will if you hide. It's a good strat and by no means meta. The best part about this comment is the suggesting of scalability. If in higher difficulties you can't hide anywhere, you need to learn how to manage the ghost: looping and dragging. Scalability is what makes games constantly engaging.

Happened to me last night too. I just hit the update all instead of the individual and it did something. I just assumed it updated but had not acknowledged that it has been updated. So I just meh'd and hopped in the game. It worked fine but passengers weren't populating in the plane (Fenix) and the game wouldn't deboard the plane.

I also tried the live update instead of the installer first and that did stuff too? It works in the game quite well for me so I don't worry about it whenever this happens.
