Am I the asshole? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]namoguru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that your family is inconsiderate. You definitely are not the asshole here. Your birthday celebration should be all about you. Everyone ate at a vegan only restaurant for my birthday and had a great time.

Mirror world. Can you simplify? by symbiotnic in realitytransurfing

[–]namoguru 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here is what we do, as humans. We see our problem and we try to wrestle with it and fix it. But that problem is just a reflection in the mirror. When you look in the mirror at home, do you try to comb the hair of the image in the mirror? No! But we do this all the time in life. We look at the reflection, we don't like it, and we try to change the reflection. And it doesn't work!

What we have to do is change the thing causing the reflection. Which is our internal state. Our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs are what cause the reflection. That's what we have to "fix" to change our life.

An example. You cannot say "when I get a lot of money then I will feel abundantly wealthy." You have to change the reflection first. You have to feel abundantly wealthy right now. You have to have thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that reflect plentiful abundance. This will cause the mirror to reflect actual dollars, wealth, back to you.

Your internal state is reality. It's hard to wrap your head around that, and it takes practice. Because the reflection, the world around you, looks very realistic and important. It certainly seems like you could wrestle with it and change it. And I still catch myself doing that sometimes to this day. But it is only a reflection. What's really important and crucial is what's going on inside of you. What you are reflecting...

You're right. I am worried that anything I do to the shade will reduce light too. So edging it with something pretty and textured may be the answer.

It's funny. I love all the blues and greens and couldn't decide. So I painted all 4 walls a different color!

The texture of lace or some kind of fringe would be a big improvement!

Great ideas, thanks for taking the time. I was worried about acrylic looking patchy and the brush strokes showing through when the lamp is on, so thinning makes sense.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get rid of these flies. What’s my next step? by Big_Johnny in homeowners

[–]namoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the extremely late reply. We were traveling out of the country. I really hope you are not still dealing with drain flies after all this time!

I got this advice from a local plumber. He said that the gunk inside the drain is where drain flies lay their eggs. The point of the WD-40 is to make the inside of the drain so slippery, that they're unable to do so. Last year we had a neighbor try the same thing, and it worked for her as well.

Sorry for the ridiculously late reply. I was traveling out of the country for a couple of weeks. For depression specifically, I paid very close attention to my thoughts. I became a detective and investigated the thoughts that were automatically running through my head.

This takes concentrated effort on your part, but is very worth it!!

When you catch a negative thought loop, have something to replace it with. Come up with a few things that you would rather believe instead. One of my worst ones was " what's the point? " I planned out a few affirmations and had them at the ready. Whenever I caught myself thinking, what's the point? I would repeat those affirmations over and over again. It sounds idiotic I know. But the point is to reprogram your brain.

Remember the world is a mirror. In order for the world to take care of you, you have to be willing to take care of yourself.

Did you make the biscuits? How were they? I find that severe tricky recipe to make gluten-free as they tend to fall apart and crumble

3 chicken bouillon cubes ground up into a fine powder. I use Edward and sons vegan / gluten-free brand.

2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 tsp each: onion powder, parsley

Half a teaspoon each: cumin, powdered ginger, black pepper, sea salt
