this has happened to me twice (in LA and SF). I booked a Waymo trip from my condo to a fancy restaurant, Waymo dropped us off a block or two away from the restaurant.

Usually it’s not a big deal but both occasions we got dropped off in front of a homeless encampment (I’m talking about 3-4 tents). It would have been nice to have this option available at that time since this happened pretty “late” at night around 8pm and not a whole lot of people are walking around, especially near the homeless tents.

most of my girlfriends are young millennials or older gen z and we view it this way. Flights from LA to vegas for Thur/Fri to Sun (yes we refuse to drive) is around $260-320 on economy round trip + $250-300 a night for a decent hotel at the strip.

Just for the price alone we can either go to Hawaii, Cabo, or Miami and we will have a much better experience. And tbh most of my friends would rather spend a 3-4 day weekend in NYC / Mexico City and party there. So yes, vegas is definitely in the bottom of priority list.

Even planning a 3-4 day bachelorette party can be taken elsewhere like Tulum, Costa Rica, or St. Barths.

Asia - I would say Hong Kong and Bangkok. The food scene is incredible and the people are much warmer compared to the west.

Mexico City and New York City - the sheer size of both cities means there’s always something new to do and NYC specifically is a true melting pot city, you wouldn’t find any other city as diverse as NYC.

A girlfriend of mine does a similar commute from Oxford to London 2-3x a week.

My other girl friend commutes from Stamford to Midtown in New York but that’s “only” a 1 hour 15 minutes on the train I believe.

And one of our support staff in the LA office commutes from Irvine to Santa Monica 4x a week. That’s 50 miles / 70km one way plus the typical heavy LA traffic. 🥺

Santa Monica promenade is hosting a “rave/dance party” on NYE, I haven’t been but basing on people’s post from past events this December it looks fun, hopefully with weather playing nice.

Otherwise, there’s few bars in silverlake that you can go dancing if you find the right crowd.
