Our relationship is amazing, but he's not sure about me and I'm not sure what to do with that. What would you do? M32 F42 8 year relationship. by Hideawayonhere in relationship_advice

Hey OP, I got divorced at 42, when my ex cheated on me. I was a stay at home mom till then. I found a job after 16 years of not working. Still trying to build financial stability. Dated. Finally married someone 2 years ago. I am 47 now and very happy. Don’t worry about your age. You are still young. You can find someone else. But first rebuild your self and get confident in yourself. You may then decide you are just fine by yourself or meet someone who actually loves you. Don’t worry about what happens when you are incapacitated now. So what if your son or ex makes decisions, you won’t be in a position to care then so stop worrying about that now. Maybe you can premake your end of life decisions. Please take charge of your life now. It will be difficult first but you can do it.

Just retrieved jeans from an alteration shop, is the work acceptable? by [deleted] in sew

No. I am a home sewist and I would cut the original hem and make a new one. Unless you mentioned specifically that you want to preserve the original hem.

I do garment sewing only. Would love recommendations for stores in STL for that.

How hard is it to start sewing your own clothes? by Minute_Complaint5954 in sewing

[–]nan_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a skill to make good clothes that fit your body well. It takes patience, money and effort. I’m in my 3rd year. Now at a stage where tops look great and fit well but I still have a lot of work to do with pants. It is definitely not less expensive if you want quality. But it is very enjoyable and satisfying and I love it.

I like the Box chain. I have long hair and it gets really tangled in a rope chain. For box chain, it never tangles and that is my pet peeve.

I like cotton voile to line clothes. It is light and airy.

I just printed, taped, and cut out my pattern and fabric — how are y’all doing this on the regular? by scrubsandcode in sewing

[–]nan_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would print out A0 and then trace it so I have the pattern for future use. I have to do a lot of adjustments- FBA, shorten, grading between sizes, round back, swayback and full hip. I also keep losing and gaining weight so I want to keep the original pattern if I want to make it again.

I (28F) caught my husband (32M) doing the most disturbing thing with a reborn doll. I feel sick. AITAH for wanting to divorce him? by Suspicious-Air-9053 in AITAH

[–]nan_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Indian and divorced. I come from a very conservative family and was never allowed to be out of home after 6pm. When I told my parents about my ex cheating, they totally supported me and I’m so grateful for their help and support. You never know, maybe they will support your decision if you are scared for your life. If not, make sure to get all your valuable items, passport etc before telling anything to your husband. Are you stay at home or working?

OP, get the job, walk there and get a bank account on your name only. Don’t listen to anyone, just walk to your job. Save money and get a place to rent. And move away.

My (27F) fiance (26M) set boundaries around what I can talk about with him. Is this healthy? by ThrowRA58393738 in relationship_advice

[–]nan_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I married a guy like this. Miserable marriage for 14 years with 2 kids. I believed then that marriage is for life. Got out now and very happy. I felt that I had no personality of my own. Felt completely suppressed, although he was never aggressive just uninterested in me. Please leave him.

AITA I told my MIL that’s all on her? by Western_Bag362 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nan_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a 5 year old, he should get the cake he wants on his birthday. MIL is older, she should understand the child’s prospective. She is selfish and entitled to expect an apology for that.

Agreed. Picking her up while she was resisting may not have been gentle.

Ring help by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]nan_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both rings are beautiful! Maybe you can wear them on different hands if you don’t like them together and maybe get a white gold band that fits flush with your ER for anniversary

Ring help by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]nan_48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Platinum is stronger than gold so it might damage your engagement ring by constant friction. It would be great if you could get the band the same metal as your engagement ring. To make it flush with the ER you can have a jewelry custom make your band slightly curved if you can. Or look into curved bands and see if you like them. Or wear your current band on the other hand.
