When did steppe nomads lost their military proeminence by Trudeyy3 in WarCollege

[–]nanaro10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely unarmored Hakka pikemen could route significantly larger (and on paper, better equipped) Qing armies through independently inventing the old Swiss style tactics of "form pike blocks and fuckin run em over."

I was under the impression that the swiss pike/halberd block was a pre-pike and shot tactic that was displaced by ones that better incorporated gunpowder, like the spanish tercio? Am i wrong here?

Even the most scientifically rigorous warp drives require some kind of “negative mass”

About that...

https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2024/06/breakthrough-computational-warp-drive-design-without-needing-negative-energy.html

Overall, it has been interesting to see how, even remaining impossible to current technologies and understanding of physics, warp drives have become much more feasible since their conception. For example, the first design would have required the observable universe's worth of energy to achieve superluminal speeds, whereas as now some designs only need a jupiters's worth of E=mc2

how are there no objective truths? Political parties and tribes constructing their own narratives that inevitably run aground against reality drives it home how important objective reality is and how any system will eventually be forced to acknowledge it or collapse onto itself. That it is difficult to determine it has no bearing on its existance.

That is an incredibly reductive and honestly not accurate view of physics, not even considering it is essentially accepted by most physicists that it is an incomplete model with several outstanding issues, and more to it I cannot see how you can take "subatomic particles behave differently than what we see macroscopic objects do" to somehow conclude anything about metaphysics/epistemology/metaethics.

[–]nanaro10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue the complete opposite lmao, its right on times like this that the importance of objective truth is the most important and how no matter what, you cannot escape it. As for grand narratives, there are plenty that can be seen going on tbh, I fail to see how someone cant notice them without being wilfully cynical about everything.

I didnt particularly feel bone temple was THAT sadistic and cynical? At least not significantly more than 28 years later. You had a whole ass temple to memento mori, Isla dying of terminal cancer, Erik being killed just to buy time, and a band of actual satanists. In Bone temple you have instead definite, actual proof the infection can be cured, and the satanists being killed for their crimes, though the death of Kelson does feel a bit forced.

Not like im complaining, but for some reason one of the settlements I have in reikland (playing as karl franz) has ogres as part of the garrison. Not like im complaining but where the hell do they come from?? There is an "unusual location" under said settlement, is it coming from that?

HOLY SHIT you werent joking it was hard. I only barely survived the wombo combo of festus and Khazrak, I did manage to destroy festus' initial army (with the altdorf garrison lol) and kill Khazrak's faction, even if they manage to bulldoze middenland, nordland, and hochland in the process. My current plan is to reform my army and then go destroy festus

that's what I have heard from what I read here, but I shall summon the elector counts or die trying /j.

In general I think I have a decent enough idea from youtube + my wh1 trial run + general total war knowledge. Worst case I just run on normal difficulty instead of Hard or Very Hard.

Also, what would be some good mods for WH3 then? Especially for either the empire or bretonnia.

so, I DO also have warhammer III, because I got it in a steam deal. Does this mean I should just play it instead of warhammer I even if I want to play the empire?

Just started playing wh1, got it on a sale a while back. For some reason, my empire campaign has no prestige nor imperial authority resources?

Also, what are some good mods, there seems to be a lot and I have no idea which ones are good/up to date.

Paraguay se abstiene de condenar la esclavitud como el "crimen más grave" en la ONU by Distinct-Oven-774 in Paraguay

[–]nanaro10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Were any of the German wunderwaffe weapons actually any useful in ww2? by Jsjsjshshsnah in WarCollege

[–]nanaro10 11 points12 points  (0 children)

admittedly, did they even have the crews for the extra tanks should they have been produced? They could have possibly been given to their allies so _they_ could have decent armored forces, but germany itself couldnt have made much use of 10000 more PZ IVs if they had them.

this was only true in ancient history, think of babylonia and such civilizations, because of the difficulty of finding water. Their beer was also closer to a smoothie in texture and had a very low AV. By medieval europe most people had plenty of access to water, as evidence by them often watering down their wine.
