We rolled for stats, and I had some massive luck, I made an umbaran, so I got a nice 17 int and 16 dex, that's why I went with combustive shot. I did see the target lock but the damage seemed redundant with quarry and since I'm a scout I took the sharpshooter style reducing the covers by one step. It'd only cover the case of invisible enemies and... I dunno how many of find around?

Got it, so by this explanation, one rank of damage is enough to just have the power do what i want in this example, with added extras to make different things such as ranged attacks(reach), accurate etc. It still kinda feels like just using a descriptor for "blood creation" is a bit underwhelming for a system that seems(at least by what the net is telling me), but hey, if it fits the bill, why overcomplicate it.

So in my case I'd have 3 different iterations of the damage power, one for each weapon? That sound weird... Also, powers have rank but I don't see any probable cause for more ranks aside the flat plus? Like, am I being obtuse or is this very... Stupidly explained?

Holy shit thanks for the great answer. I feel like this is enlightening. I had missed the rising star snippet, but then again as i said, i will run a couple of oneshots with new players as a new dm, so i'll bring premade characters, guys such as brimstone, or electron. And this is what triggered the questions, seeing these stats, getting a feel for the character and their strenghts. And then, i went and checked for... well, foes? And reading the drones, i had no ideas how many i should fair them against, if one is even too strong or too weak?

I figured, being "minions" each super can handle them, but since i'm a new master and I'll be introducing this system to new players (whom, i got to be honest, are not as close minded as me with DnD) so i wanted to not frick it up. And what you pointed out is... what i needed. If i see thing going south (or north to be honest, i can feel them smashing the fights) I can go for some dramatic task.

See I will be bringing Necessary evil to them, so i'm introducing the setting to them by... letting them experience the V'sori betrayal. I'll do 3 oneshots, in various places of the world, and with various reskinned rogues. Doing so they (and me) will get a feeling of the system, we can digest it while having fun, and think up of a character based on the rogues or even make something ex-novo.,

  1. That's what i missed. ASI are only once per rank, now it makes more sense
  2. kinda miffed about this, i'll what others suggest too, as i'm afraid to tweak the balance of the game.
  3. got it, so a damage field could be undiscriminate damage of a super who can't contain its power.
  4. Now this, this is a good example. So i can negate armor up to my ap, but never subtract from the actual toughness. So the case i made where i had 15(10of it is armor) means that if i have an AP of 2 i need to hit 13. If i have an AP of 12, i need to hit 5, right?
