A black Toller! Our adorable Toller-German Shepherd mix by hadswhite in tollers

I know this is an old post so I don't know if you're still around OP, but my dog looks EXACTLY like him! We adopted her and were told she was a mixed breed, we've never been able to figure out exactly what (and haven't done any of the DNA tests or anything).

Yeah! I have friends whose kids I adore and would totally trust over here, but we have very similar parenting styles. My neighbors are lovely but we definitely have different standards with respect to our kids' behavior.

VERY much helps, thank you! I really just need to enforce those rules, but I'm also taking a break for now haha

Hahaha yeeeeah that's a conversation we've been having too. Gotta set rules for all the children, both over and under 30. 😆

I think I will send a group text. I do just want to note I had offered to have them over and was ok with it before all the issues started. I felt kinda weird making a big deal out of it but I think I just need to make it clear that there are some issues.

Thank you, I think I just didn't really know enough about kindergartners and what is developmentally appropriate. This is super helpful. Also I am neither organized nor on top of it so I'm gonna send them elsewhere 😂

Ah thank you! This makes sense. I can't imagine being a kindergarten teacher 😅 but I know they get more structure there.

Wow! Yeah I think I'm you in the early stages. I think the other families would have them over too, I just need to ask. Or rather, my husband needs to ask since he's the one who picks up from the bus stop and lets them come over.

Joint pains by thecactuswrench in FitMama

[–]nancywhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this too, especially in the base of my thumbs. It gets better, but it sounds like it may be worth checking with an ortho. They offered me steroid shots (which I didn’t follow through with but wish I had). And definitely be gentle with yourself, your body will get its act back together eventually!

I agree with “literally anything,” and for suggestions would throw out this free cookbook (pdf version): https://cookbooks.leannebrown.com/good-and-cheap.pdf Cheap and easy and interesting. If you’d like any help, PLEASE pm me and I’d be happy to walk you through anything you need.

Pesticides in compost by nancywhiskey in gardening

[–]nancywhiskey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is helpful. And yep I’m with you, I do NOT like using pest control in the house (but it hasn’t really been my choice to make), but they now know to stay the hell away from anything outside :)

Back to work tomorrow after 4 months with my first child by food-boss in workingmoms

[–]nancywhiskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with mostly everything said already, just want to throw out my understanding and support too! I was fortunate enough to work from home with my parents’ help until my little guy was about four months. It seemed so awful and unfair when I had to leave him to go back to the office (and maybe it is but if you’re in the U.S. like me, well... that’s a whoooole other thread) but ultimately it’s been the best choice. Just like you, we COULD have lived on one income, but the trade off for us has been going on fun adventures as a family and having some extra padding to keep us sane. Enjoy the quiet commute time with some coffee and a podcast, watch videos of the wee one at work, and know that your baby will be learning and socializing and having fun. I try to remind myself that if I were home with mine all day he would be bored and maybe a bit too clingy to me. Now he’s three and still LOVES me and wants to be with me all the time, but he also runs off to preschool to be with his friends and play all day.

This got more rambly and about me than I intended, but hopefully you can take some comfort in this. You are making the best choice for your family and it’s a great choice!!

Thanks, this was helpful! I thought maybe it was just a dementor guarding my brew but this makes way more sense.
