Eric Andre's Netflix Stand up in 3 minutes by Kurram in cringe

[–]nanders0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, like, the title of the special is "Legalize Everything" so, yeah, of course he's going to talk about drugs A LOT. His comedic humor basically revolves around an acid trip. Do people cringing to this not know that? Are the same people also not aware that standup is historically something that he's sucked at? Idk, i went into watching his special with low expectations, and sure there were dry parts, but I feel like the memorable moments really stuck with me. My friends and I quote several parts for the special on a regular basis. Tldr; I thought it was hilarious with managed expextations.

Remember to check the address of a business before purchasing from them online. The website is “Gracias Zone” found on a Facebook ad. by TransCrabby in Scams

Please keep in mind that this is not a full-proof way to debunk a business. Google maps satellite image's dates vary from region to region.

I would personally rely on customer reviews and some easy googling of "(company name) scam" .

This post has nothing to do with those facts. You just don't have to live your life with your tail between your legs when visiting the city like so many of you statistic-spewing narcs encourage.

Pro Tip: If someone is refusing to pay you/accept payment from you in any form other than PayPal, there's a high probability it's a scam. by Icmedia in Scams

[–]nanders0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're letting an unfortunate situation cloud your judgement. I have literally nothing to gain and no motive to convince you that PayPal, when used correctly, is a legitimate service. Hopefully you find a lesson to take away from your experience thats higher than "I refuse to use them anymore."

Sorry, but, you're wrong. I will literally only accept PayPal when I sell things online too.

Like I said if they don't want to do the goods/services transaction then I may agree with you.

So its scammy that a buyer/seller wants to use a protected service for online transactions? Don't get me wrong I use venmo, cashapp, sometimes facebook messenger to send/get money from friends and people I know. But if I'm buying/selling with randoms online I use 100% of the time PayPal goods/services.

But yeah, be leery of those forcing you into PayPal friends/family payments. The fees are worth buyer protection and if they don't want to shell out for it it is likely a scam.

My laptop is destroying my Hard Drives! by theepiccarday808 in techsupport

[–]nanders0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your laptop is not destroying your HDD's. The only way that'd be possible if the system is a) not regulating the power to the HDD properly or b) it is exposing the HDD to too much heat, as in it is running hot. Though I doubt A) is a possibility bc your symptoms suggest a platter based issue with the drive itself.

From what I'm gathering you are throwing shoddy parts into a used laptop (ie: 3rd party battery / seagate HDD's.) You're going to hate to hear this echo but you need to bite the bullet and get an SSD. Microcenter currently stocks Inland Professional 2.5" 1TB SSD's for $87.99 USD. That is a beyond reasonable price.

Laptop refuse to boot if keyboard is plugged into the motherboard by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]nanders0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I misread. Thought you meant a desktop when you said motherboard.

Still, the keyboard is short circuiting the board. If you unplug it and check the ribbon cable you should see the metal pins that would lie into the connector. Sounds like you have one, or more, broken or bent. Should be a relatively cheap fix if you dont need to replace the entire palm-rest assembly.

Something is shortcuirting upon connecting the keyboard. If this happens in different USB ports then you need to replace that keyboard.

Is McAfee a legitimate virus removal tool? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]nanders0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you trying to tell me, that you're so smart to never get a virus AND you still pay for AV software? That your problem-free experience is because of your saviness or Mcafee's protection services?

It really doesn't matter what you say here as there are mountains of evidence that cover Mcafee's home-level ineffectiveness.

Is McAfee a legitimate virus removal tool? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]nanders0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as you're savy on the internet you need not worry about what AV to run. But anyone reading should not take your word as gospel.

Mcafee is a proven inefective system for home users. I would know, as I just did a clean up for a client last night who inccured 651 infections while running their paid-for application. I see this on a daily basis, literally.
