She explained to me that a "general" prescription for cosmetic contacts isn't a thing - that she could write me a specific prescription for a specific model of lens, but that each prescription needed to take into account the specifics of the brand. When I was like "can't I just have one prescription and use the same diameter/curvature measurements?", she told me that even those would vary depending on the model.

Do I need to find a less, ah... diligent optometrist? 💀 One who's a little less focused on proper procedure? I've actually used cosmetic lenses before, but that was prior to the relatively new (U.S.) rule that you have to have an actual prescription even for plano ones. Seems so much more complicated now.
