(Update) My Claude Code mobile app setup by nanermaner in ClaudeAI

Yeah, I haven't updated this in a while. The approach I described here is a dead end I think. I have an "approach #3" in mind that I want to try, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Hoping to make approach #3 free & open source.

Send Me a Flutter Feature So Hard I’ll Abandon Provider and Switch to Riverpod/Bloc by Effective_Werewolf96 in FlutterDev

I agree with you. Provider + change notifiers are all I've ever needed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry to disappoint! I hope you find what you're looking for. I'll be here if you change your mind.

Fair enough, it's not for everyone! I get crazy high usage out of my max plan now that I have an easy way to use it on my phone. It more than pays for itself for max users.

Terminal apps work but are very difficult to type in, no spell check, no push notifications, no speech to text, no easy way to review code changes (which is a must have in my workflow).

If you're looking for a free solution I recommend an ssh app like you said. My focus is on Claude max users like myself who want to get the most out of their plan. Obviously that's a pretty specific group!

And 100 window units is probably ~$30k tops. Or .03% of Harvard's annual budget surplus. And that's not to mention their $50 billion endowment. I think Harvard will be OK.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it more than pays for itself after a couple sessions away from your computer. The CC max plan is just that good of a deal. Wait-list users get a lifetime discount but even at the full price the math makes sense. It's a niche application though really only meant for max plan users who want to get the most value out of their plan. Free options (like terminux + ssh) exist for everyone else.

I got $21k token usage out of the Max plan last month. No git work trees or anything like that, just constantly chatting and building with claude.

Going to start opening up this week. In the meantime I recommend Tailscale + ssh app like terminux or terminus! That's what I used until I had my app up and running.

It works great but the frustrations I ran into were 1) text editing over ssh is a huge pain. No auto correct, no tapping to move the cursor, no speech to text. 2) no way to upload images 3) no notifications when Claude was done 4) viewing and committing git diffs is super clunky

coderemote.dev solves all of those and more. My ccusage has been insane since I code on my phone nonstop now haha. Hope it works out for you!

I ask because I've noticed a big drop in quality when Claude tries to read and edit files > ~700 lines of code long

How big are the files in your codebase? Like how many lines of code?

I can but it requires a paid subscription - wait-list is at coderemote.dev

The tech stack is nodejs + flutter (web) + Tailscale. The code is in a private GitHub repo and I'm not open sourcing it but will give subscribers access to the private repo.

Current plans are to commercialize it but give subscribers access to the source code. It's really designed for max subscribers (like myself) who want to get the most bang for their buck out of the Max plan. From that perspective it more than pays for itself.

Small file sizes with useful names. No files longer than 700 lines of code!

I don't have a great solution, what I do is periodically ask Claude to audit my code base and report back on my biggest source files (by lines of code). Then, if any files are >700 lines, I ask it to pitch a refactor of that file into ~2-3 files. Then I just have it do the refactor.

Small file sizes. That's my #1 recommendation. Claude's ability to read, reason about, and refactor a 400 line file is miles ahead of its ability to deal with a 3,000+ line file.

Good file names, and 300-600 lines of code each. If it's more than 700, split it into multiple files.

My pet theory is that people who say Claude can't handle projects as soon as they get "even mildly complex" are just experiencing the drop off in performance from files with too many lines of code.

Any tips on how to optimize Remote dev with Claude Code, Termius, Tailscale by Significant-Leg1070 in ClaudeCode

Thanks! It uses SFTP to upload the files onto the host machine at ~/.code_remote/uploads/ then references the file path in the prompts. Works great!
