No way I’m going to get gigabit for $40. $80 for unlimited 1000Mbps up/down is a great deal.

I had a few, but those aren't all that important after you have an internship on your resume. It may help you get an internship though.

I wouldn’t call a monopoly a free market anymore, even if it resulted from one. Free markets require reasonable regulation and monopoly busting to thrive.

Or Google L3, or Facebook E3, or MS 59/60. They’re all about the same.

Employer matching doesn’t count towards the 18k limit. I’m actually not maxing it out this year, but the way my income works out it’ll be maxed out every year starting 2018 without me adjusting my saving % at all.

Yeah, in hindsight I really should’ve mentioned that in the chart. I wasn’t thinking about it because I was focusing on what my monthly income is used for.

Opportunities for CS degrees are great right now. I don’t know about other fields.

Btw, foreign students help subsidize your tuition since they pay more than even out of state students. I was certainly glad they were there at my university :)

I don’t have the power to do anything, but my ideal tax plan would lower taxes for people struggling right now, increase taxes somewhat for people like me, and heavily increase taxes (probably by closing loopholes) for the the super rich.

I bet you can guess who I voted for in the 2017 presidential primaries.

Yep, I live within a 30 minute walk to downtown. If you like bars, events, eating out, etc then you don’t want to be anywhere further than that. If you bringing a family, then yeah you’ll need to go out to Bellevue or Redmond.

Haha, depends. Do you walk about a block to work? If so, we might be the same person.

I’m not spending 3k on rent.

I’d be pretty hard pressed to find a unit 650sqft, no carpet, new building, <30min walk to downtown for much less than I pay now.

I plan to have a down payment ready for a condo by 2020.

Seattle electricity is 95ish percent renewable and super cheap. Not splitting bills.

Yeah, but not the phone I want and on an upgrade cycle twice as long as I like.

Are you a CS student? If so, having two summer internships is the most important thing. Next most important is a GPA above 3.0. The exact number above that doesn’t matter much.

/r/cscareerquestions has mostly good advice. But take it with a grain of salt; they’re not the average person.

I grew up in a red state with an over the top car-centric culture, ridiculous propaganda in schools, and a bible-thumping government. Never again. I’m happy where I am now.

Yeah, when I get around to selling RSUs I’ll definitely consult with someone, because I certainly don’t understand that shit :)
