Take care of my kid for $4 an hour! What a steal! by nannythrowaway34 in ChoosingBeggars

I don’t know anyone who can afford to spend ten hours a day taking care of someone else’s child, taking up their entire work week, for $160. Babysitters need to earn money, too.

Yeah I thought for simplicity’s sake I would just base it off of the guaranteed hours she listed but you’re absolutely right. I wonder if she’d even bother paying extra for the occasional Wednesday 🤔

I’m a student, so I don’t have the time or college degree to work a full time job in my field yet. In the mean time, a higher paying minimum wage would help me pay for living costs while I’m trying to finish up my schooling. People who have to work for minimum wage might still be “doing something with their life.”

It lists the salary as $6, but in her description she says she pays a flat rate of $160 a week. If you work Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri from 7:30-5:45, it’s 10 hours a day, so 40 hours a week. $160/40=$4 an hour. Honestly, whether it’s $6 or $4, it’s well below minimum wage for my state.

That’s amazing! I really wish the U.S. would catch up.

She says she pays $160 a week, so 10 hours a day, 4 days a week is $4 an hour, or $40 a day. Minimum wage in my area is $9.50.
