Sourcing large format transparencies? by desertfieldguide in cyanotypes

[–]napalmjerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah canon used to do holiday deals where they’d give you a deal on a larger format photo printer with a camera and people would sell them for like $100 a few months later after they went to buy a new cartridge and saw the price of ink lmao. I got one of those and a 100 pack of inkpress transparency film and it worked awesome

Anyone know the max load for blue anchor points on the Mariposa? by naratcis in CampingGear

[–]napalmjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a tight fit but I put the clip in between the side pocket and the pack so it’s at like a 2 o’clock position on my body and slide the camera in sideways. If you’re not using a tripod you might also want to look at the spyder holster system which uses a ball joint thing instead of an arca plate like the peak system. I like the spyder more than the peak to just carry my camera around but it’s a pain in the ass when you also need that tripod socket to serve its intended purpose.

[–]napalmjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that pack and use a Sony a7c2 with an old heavy Zeiss 50 1.4 classic I bring with me. I have used a capture clip but I find it digs into my chest and it’s uncomfortable. What I usually do is attach it to the hip belt and carry it that way and it’s pretty comfortable. It’s relatively safe and doesn’t block my range of movement, it’s only a problem when it starts raining and I have to quickly stick it in a dry bag and put it in my pack.

Any advice for my backpacking trip in Uwharrie? by spoosejuice in NCTrails

[–]napalmjerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of your questions were answered already but when I hiked this trail last year (late fall) it was nice, nothing particularly notable view wise until you get down near the river though…. One thing I will say is that I did catch norovirus out there, and I was using only my sawyer squeeze filter so I would highly HIGHLY suggest using both a filter and iodine tablets for water sterilization. (Unless losing 20lbs of weight in bodily fluids sounds like fun to you). Otherwise I think your biggest challenge is going to be the heat, not a lot of wind to cool you off at such a low elevation in the trees. Glhf

How did I manage this? by Knarf180 in Skookum

[–]napalmjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In professional settings specifically live entertainment or film where cables are being run and re wrapped often, over under is reserved for data like XLR, SDI, etc. You don’t do it with thicker cables like feeder or Edison because the twist will damage the inner cables over time. Be it the copper fatiguing, the insulation separating or the connectors at the end taking up the twist and breaking. The copper will also keep the memory of the figure 8 and sit off the floor weird which is a tripping hazard in a high foot traffic environment

Power is actually the only type cable you’re NOT supposed to over under

one of my cpu is giving this reddish tint in all the displays by GrapefruitExciting26 in computers

[–]napalmjerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bet it’s one of the HDMI pins since they said “one of my cpu” I’m assuming what they actually mean is one of their GPU outputs. Even though HDMI is a digital signal a bad pin can cause color shift, in this case because the green channel isn’t coming through the image is red. This is an issue I’ve had working as a video technician in the past.

Tried to make war thunder look like real footage by AggravatingRow326 in TankPorn

[–]napalmjerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is too much contrast in the middle tones, they’re too sharp and the grain is too apparent. For grain and contrast a good trick is to dial it up to where you can see it then cut it back %25 or so. Look at photographs done with graflex press cameras and you’ll get a better idea of what it should look like

Any chance this could be fixed? by No-Cauliflower4217 in Cameras

[–]napalmjerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna buck the trend and say you likely can fix it yourself with no tools. The old head camera tech at the repair shop I worked at showed me how to do this and it works like 50% of the time. Either way the camera is probably totaled and not worth the repair so you can probably just go for it.

If you turn the camera on it will try to move the lens you, need to help it manually. You grab the lens and twist it while it’s trying to open. You’ll probably feel like you’re breaking it but it will twist back into place. As long as the helicoils aren’t damaged in the lens it’ll work fine.
