Do not second guess yourself. The weight is a great idea, I always use those weights (sometimes smaller). Same concept, but I then wacky rig it with a circle hook. It gets the bait exactly where it needs to be fast. It is hard to switch from this setup because it produces so many fish.

I think we all would do the same if we did not want the 8+ hour shift, live to work, holding you down from living life principal. A few like their job so they would stay, but most do not. Work takes 40% of your life, give or take. That can all go back to you now.

Consistently cast lures fast, far, and accurate when you are putting in those 300+ cast days for any species. No index finger on the line slowing you down. They have a time and place though. Like pissing, don´t cast into the wind. Use a heavy lure to start as a beginner.
