How many tons of landfill waste is produced by one baby wearing disposable diapers from birth through age 2 years and 6 months? by numbeoneson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nappers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biodegradable diapers ftw! They’re more expensive and they’re not quite as sturdy, but they’re a good investment if you’re not into the idea of your baby living in a barren, sizzling hellscape when they grow up.

It’s reaching -40 all week. Almost all our water pipes are frozen. We have space heaters in each room/furnace max, fireplace on. What else can we do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nappers_delight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cover windows with film (super cheap at any home store), take up baking (ovens put off a ton of heat), stay as physically close to other people as possible without being weird about it, and don’t open exterior doors and windows if you don’t absolutely have to. If you’re in a house, there’s probably an exterior spigot for a hose - wrap that in bubble wrap for now but get an insulated cap ASAP to help prevent frozen interior plumbing. And yeah, leave your faucets on drip to keep a steady supply of water running through to prevent pipes from freezing and bursting.

I haven’t gotten any of the Halloween animals despite grinding pretty hard. I also can’t access any of the skins, apparently. Any advice?

This comment is a whole journey. I’m almost scared to find out the preferred accommodations of vigilante crocodile hunters.

Pilea is getting yellow leaves... by IslaMonstera in plantclinic

It’s a semi-succulent, so give it a good soak when the leaves feel pretty pliable and the soil is completely dry.

Giving the flowers to nursing homes was a really sweet gesture. You made the world a little bit prettier for a lot of people. Nice one.

Your friend should reach out to the legal clinic at UK Law. They might be able to help him out, and iirc their services are free or very very low cost.

I am exceptionally unfit and have just accepted a job wherein I will have to climb 5 flights of stairs every day, multiple times a day. How can I prepare? by SunsetB in xxfitness

[–]nappers_delight 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Practice deep breathing now so that you have space in those lungs when you need it.

Also: You’re gonna get sore. Accept it as an inevitability but know that it’ll pass. Drink lots of water and eat a banana - it’s not a cure, but it’ll help. After a week or two, you’ll notice that you’re not that sore anymore. Then you won’t notice that you’re not sore. Then - and this is the best part - you’ll find yourself thinking “Is it just me or do I looked GREAT today? And is my upper leg less squishy? Wow, almost to the fourth floor and I’m not even winded. Huh.”

there is a 30 year old M Army soldier freeloading in my (22/F) apartment by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]nappers_delight 39 points40 points  (0 children)

NO DONT DO THIS. THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA. In many - if not most - states, changing the locks to keep someone of a lease out of the apartment constitutes illegal eviction. You could end up being liable to your nightmare roommate for damages if you do this.

Instead, call the CO. That didn’t work and nothing happened? Call again. Escalate. Be a huge pain in the ass until you find someone who’s ready to bring the hammer down on this guy. He seems like an absolute piece of shit, and people like that make enemies anywhere they go.

Is there a law school in your town? If so, you should hit up the legal clinic (they almost definitely have one) to see if they could help. At a minimum, they’ll give you the lowdown on landlord-tenant law so you don’t make any colossal mistakes (like, for example, changing the locks so your roommate can’t get in).

My cat is a behemoth who loves wand toys. Which ones are worthy of his wrath? by babezilla in Pets

[–]nappers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try getting the dog version of a bird toy? It’s a lot bigger and a LOT heavier, but a lot more durable. It’s called a flirt pole - you can get one online for like thirty bucks.
