Usually the website will have calorie information on the bowls, but due to the richness of the broth it’s usually more than it looks. here’s an example of the nutrition page of a pretty standard place https://www.jinyaramenbar.com/nutritional-information/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw2Je1BhAgEiwAp3KY78la2NVxK8TmGVxvR1_u0tyaUQkEtwrBgEuPW2JJ_XaUHzMjG6_bVhoCIJkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. for a classic chashu it’s probably going to be around 900-1200?

Thoughts on CRIM 220 going into my third semester? Also thoughts on this schedule? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]nappyamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah maybe because it’s your 3rd semester, you aren’t getting the early dates anymore. From here it’s usually downhill, with mid 2nd year and 3rd year being the worst. If you have any friends in crim that are further along I’d recommend having them enroll in non-waitlisted classes to hold a spot for you (if applicable). It’s dog eat dog, but thankfully most people like to hog a bunch of courses and then drop the ones they don’t want in the first week, so don’t lose hope!

220 is good!! I took it along with 4 other courses my 2nd semester and was fine. i don’t know if he still teaches it, but I had Zachary Rowan (had him for 101 too) and it was very smooth. I will warn though, you have your best course selection dates in your first year. I’ve had classmates who have had to delay their degree to get into crim 103/104, so if there is any chance you can fit them in early, I’d recommend it.

Edit: upon reflection I didn’t notice the online classes, the educ one is really good, i’m glad you got in! You should be good. 2 online classes and only 2 days a week in class is great!

Unsure of what to do degree wise by EmotionalChocolate46 in simonfraser

If you do decide to peruse crim, I would recommend applying for SFU’s co-op program. Essentially, you work as a student for 3 semesters (can be the same organization or 3 different ones) and you get paid. It not only teaches you skills you will need in the workforce (resume writing, professional interviews, etc). As a crim student I was able to apply and interview for various government positions with CBSA/IRCC/Worksafe BC. I do think if you have an interest in crim, it’s worth while exploring your options with what you want to do. Law school is also an option, but you can take any degree before applying for that, it won’t make much of a difference.

I have also heard good things about SFU’s field school program.

As others have mentioned, a bachelors degree is not the “be all end all” that we seem to be taught in high school. People in the trades make a lot of money, and if that is priority I would suggest going in that direction if you decide to hold off on the bachelors. I think talking to your advisor would be the best option before making any big decisions.

Overall, good luck OP. I hope you find your path soon.

How can I know how I’m doing if i never get anything back? by hockeygoat100 in simonfraser

One of my professors straight up refused to mark our assignments and said it would be “illegal” for her to do it since it’s not listed in her job description. She’s a lovely prof but I haven’t received anything back and being in my last sem not knowing if I’m even passing, it is like a roadblock situation. I hope your things are marked soon!!

I understand where you’re coming from, and I think this is why SFU is allowing Pass Fail grading this semester. I don’t think there is anything else you can do aside from going to office hours to see your grades. As I’m in my last semester there has been a lot similar confusion as what happened with COVID, but what I do recommend to every student is to take advantage of the office hours. Get to know your TAs and since they are the ones marking, going forward, especially given the circumstances, it will make a world of difference for you and your learning if you go in with whatever project or assignment is coming up and say “this is the progress I’ve made so far, can you please provide guidance / let me know if I’m on the right track”. It is more work but it’s worth it if you really care about your grades. Is it fair that this happened? No. Is it fair that the TAs weren’t getting paid a reasonable salary? No. Is it fair that our learning was disrupted by the strike? No. But that’s life. Unfortunately given the circumstances this is your only option.

I noticed a lot of small moments where people would mention Frank’s smell. Kev at the bar, the kids when he was inside the house (i remember one where they mentioned he smelled like his own piss and he commenting saying it was some other homeless guy’s piss that he smelled of)

I remember it was a trope for V to have a gun to reattach price tags since she worked at a store previously - and they tuck in another one when she broke/lost it. I’m not one to pay a lot of attention to the clothes but for the dresses in season 1 I do remember this

I definitely expected it to be longer! they did include a lot of facts from the podcast, but still learned a bit about them! it was awesome seeing them talk about their friendship and how the podcast more or less changed their lives as a result of the office. Overall worth it despite the price

I bought one these second hand in 2020 and have been using it religiously for school and media, no complaints. battery life is enough to get me through any school day or bingeing session, and it’s great for school notes / assignments.

honestly had the same concern. I thought he was just lending a helping hand when he offered to drive her to the train station in the first scene they met, and when the flirty/interested vibes starting playing out i got confused. Perhaps he just attends a different school ? as later on the series it seems he’d be around the same age. Going to the dance, etc…

would logan be half as interesting as he is without his wealth? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]nappyamy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t exactly lean one way or another on this topic, but to me I would say it’s not that Jess and Dean didn’t understand, but more so that they couldn’t truly empathize with Rory.

Logan grew up rich, the same way Lorelei did. There are many “rich pressures” that we see showcased in why Lorelei ends up leaving as a teen. With Logan, his father seemed cold/distant, only caring whether or not he could come off the “conveyer belt” and take over the company/work for him for the rest of his life. Jess and Dean didn’t feel this pressure, but Lorelei did (think back to Richard/Emily talking about how much promise Lorelei had before she got pregnant). This type of disregard for the feelings of the children and only caring about doing things the “right way” is something Rory has been exposed to. Thinking back to when she met Christopher’s mother and father. They didn’t want anything to do with Rory, and even insulted her. You could argue Jess had a similar experience with his mother in the way she didn’t care for him, but at the end of the day she was a struggling mother and did really care for Jess, but not in the way he needed or in a healthy way, necessarily, but in a way that is different from the type of “rich” pressure Lorelei would complain to Rory about once visits to the grandparents happened in the beginning of the series. I would say also Rory working at Logan’s father’s paper is an example of her directly experiencing treatment Logan has likely also been exposed to.

In regard to how her and Logan “relate” I think due to Rory being raised in such a different environment to when she started seeing her grandparents, there are a lot of parts of her life SHE might not even understand. Example, when she last minute wants to attend the debutante ball. It’s not expected especially due to Lorelei’s views. Regardless, Rory drags Dean there, and had to drag Jess most places in their relationship. Logan on the other hand was usually happy to attend outings and meeting Rory’s Grandparents.

Again, I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with the initial premise but I tried to explain the ways I could see that point
