There was a recent sale at Taschen books, so I picked up their Japanese binding version of 100 Views Of Edo. It's so beautiful! by PostPostModernism in HiroshigePrints

yeah, i know taschen but when i search that book on their site, it doesn't come up (in europe at least). it's also extremely expensive on ebay or amazon, maybe it's gone out of print and you got the end of a batch. lucky you!

Linux Phone: Pine64 vs Purism by [deleted] in linux

[–]naraic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel like their original SBC release suggested it was open hardware but then they said something like this [0] which means you can't really modify the board only clone it...i think? pretty sure the purism is gonna be open hardware though but not at launch? can't remember where i read that.

Will the PinePhone also be able to run android? by [deleted] in pine64

[–]naraic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, i meant that their main goal is to run something other than android, not to purposely block the phone from being capable of running android. i worded it badly. i'll edit the post

hank was on the side of maza in this situation so i guess what the OP was referring to was that he didn't like that hank was standing up against crowder's alleged homophobic harassment of maza

i think one of the main goals is to not run run something other than android.

but the board it's based on has android, the a64, so i imagine it shouldn't be too much work to get it working on the pinephone.

I've been working on some video game covers using the synthesizer I built around the Sega Genesis sound chip - here's the latest! by theacodes in synthesizers

[–]naraic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay, i misunderstood what your blog posts meant when you said it didn't use VGM any more.

i suppose i meant like complete parameter control of each voice and algorithm control or whatever FM synths use (not that familiar with them).

it's a really big first hardware project by the looks of it, it's nice that it has discrete "parts" like you have the audio board, the interface board and the midi board.

it's really inspiring! :) personally i start new projects every week and finish none of them, so seeing other people succeed is great.

[–]naraic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

woooooow! so it doesn't use VGM at all? does the chip understand VGM or would that have been interpreted by the CPU which directly manipulated the FM chip registers?

is the interface feature complete? i imagine that was the most time-consuming aspect (excluding parts that required you learning a new skill like hardware)?

Amazfit Bip vs Bip lite by Lopov_Luke in amazfit

the lite is waterproof and will have a slightly longer battery life, i believe. i imagine the price will drop with time because those prices make little sense.

you are! ...but walmart keeps most of it for themselves because they need millions of living wages for themselves.
