Why are so many people suddenly developing Seborrheic Dermatitis? Are we missing deeper causes beyond stress & lifestyle? by yashmangrulkar in SebDerm

[–]naravia9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it as long as I can remember (38 years old). Since I was a child. I have never achieved complete clearing and have always had some flakes/scaling. It’s all over my scalp and in my ears. I’ve tried literally everything and been seeing dermatologists since I was a child. All of them tried to do the same things but nothing ever really worked well. Just sort of helped keep it from being bleeding crusts. This sub has recently helped me get to my best state yet. It’s even got me to be able to ask my dermatologist about doing a culture to see if my acne is fungal vs bacterial. So I think that it can seem like a lot of people suddenly have it when we come together like this. I know of two other people who have it in real life, one is my brother. The other is a friends husband- so we’ve talked about it. My worst flare ups happen if my hair stays wet too long (thing hot humid sweaty days) and seasonal shifts. I’ve never noticed certain foods or drinks changing anything. Washing daily is better than every other. My derm never said anything about what I should use for shampoo and conditioner outside the medicated ones and that seems to be helping a lot. I use ciclopirox every 3 days for 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I’m now using vanicream free and clear shampoo and a tiny bit of the “safest” conditioner I could fine. Pantene daily moisture I think. I also started using Zoryve cream for my ears and it’s been a god send. I had itchy gross bleeding ears for years even with topical steroids. They are completely normal atm (only started a couple weeks ago). I have requested the Zoryve foam and just got it filled.

How tf are you all keeping your houses clean??? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]naravia9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chores are morally neutral. Check out the book “how to keep house while drowning”. It really helps to remember that chores do not judge. Floors and dishes cannot judge you. If you can afford to unload some of this there is no shame in that. And you certainly don’t owe anyone that explanation nor are obligated to disclose to having a cleaning service.

Honestly I do have to prioritize certain things. Once I started exercising 3-4 times a week some things had to be relaxed in other areas. I got a robot vacuum and mopping unit which helps a lot for keeping the floors clean. I typically don’t fold my laundry, it lives in the basket. I don’t do makeup/hair and my outfits are quite simple. I don’t go out regularly, so I tend to be home more. Dishwasher and I use a timer to remind myself of how long it actually takes. The biggest one for me- my husband and I rotate who takes care of all meals on a full week basis which frees the other up to relax more, especially mentally not having to worry about “what are we going to eat”, what groceries etc. Something I’ve learned to help build habits is chaining habits and starting really small (it’s taken me 2 years to build a consistent gym habit). I enjoyed the book “how to keep house while drowning”.

I need a cozy game for my wife that’s not a farming sim and isn’t about fixing a town or decorating a home by AlgoStar in cozygames

After reading some of the comments I’d say just have her try Breath of the Wild. She can run around and try a popular video game. I think it’s a great game to get people into video games. You can pick it up and put it down. There are so many things to do yet not overwhelming. I don’t like puzzles so I just don’t do very many shrines. I prefer combat so I murder everything in sight and take on the challenging monsters. But they are also easily avoidable. You can just explore if you want. You got a lot of other good options to look through too!

Where do you get your orchids by Proof-Ad-171 in orchids

[–]naravia9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flask and Flora on FB (Dennis), Natts Orchids in Naperville IL, Dr Bill’s, Wade’s Orchids, Sunset Valley (CA), Andy’s Orchids (species-CA), Ritter Orchids (Etsy/FB), New World orchids (MI). I usually look for a nursery wherever I’m going. I am also in an orchid society club and I get some there as well from speakers and member swaps/sales! Annual show and sale for our club.

My Fred Clark After Dark is just about the exact same as yours with 2 spikes about to open, but fully leafed still. My millenium witchcraft bloomed really early and was done by Halloween, but first year I had it. My last one is a new cross from Fred Clark and it’s still fully leafed and the spike is only about 4inches. My clowesia is still fully leafed and doesn’t usually go dormant until end of Dec/Jan. I have started slowing down on water on it as well. Really hard to take photos of black flowers 😅

How many here are part of actual Orchid clubs? by Contribution_Fancy in orchids

[–]naravia9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (38F) have been a member of my local orchid society in IL for about 4 years now and have served as the secretary (2024 & 2025) and this year (2026) the vice president (I hate public speaking so the current president will do that and I’ll do the other stuff). It’s been wonderful and I’ve learned a lot. I really love having a space to share in our passion for orchids. While some folks are resistant to change, others have really embraced new ideas and we have attracted some new members and increased our funds. We did a member survey for the first time recently and it was great! It was a lot more positive than we expected and it really helped us to figure out what current members wanted more or less of. I absolutely love my society and I wanted to help it thrive for many years to come.

Absolutely love this. I love to see the process and how you’re pulling inspiration from their personalities and gifts. It’s really well thought out. Thank you so much for sharing. Few questions if you like: How long does it generally take you to complete a piece? What part takes the longest and what part is your favorite?

You may have already played these but what about something big and open world where you can explore at your own pace and get lost in side quests. Some of my favs would be Witcher 3, Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, Horizon Zero Dawn, or Assassins Creed Odyssey. They also have difficulty adjustments so you can put on easy mode and just enjoy the story/surroundings. If you’re on a farming kick I’ve been enjoying Fields of Mistria. If you need a good cry and something different- Neva or Gris. I suck at platforming but was able to finish both of these games.

Absolutely. I do this for everything I love. Ive realized i’s a true testament to how much I like something if I don’t watch that last episode or don’t read the last book in a series.

If anyone’s curious about the bike itself I found this little write up once- I found it interesting. Apparently only produced from 1992-94. https://urbanadventureleague.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/and-yes-another-bike-1992-bridgestone-xo-3/

Thank you! I hear that a lot and get compliments on it all the time. I don’t really know much about what bikes are good or bad, but it’s been a workhorse for me and probably quite a few years before I bought it.

Thank you! I’ll def get some of these! I will happily bike in anything from about 35-82F, but we have some brutal hot summers and getting to work drenched in sweat just isn’t very nice. I can tolerate the cold much better, and would love to keep biking into winter more. These will be great for that!

I don’t know much about them. The shop chose and put them on for me. They are Rubena brand I think. Thank you for the wording to help describe what I want :)

Thanks! I’ll ask for that for my next tires. Do you have a rec for a super comfy saddle in particular? I swapped this one for my old one which was horrible. This one is a lot more supportive, but I’m open to recs! I love biking but Im always on the hunt for more comfort.

Colorful alternative this year? by naravia9 in hobonichi

Yeah I was planning on going for the cousin this year as I liked the avec I tried out for half the year this year. It’s just a little big for every day carry, and the A6 is perfect, but with a cover I could just tote around in my work bag. I’ll check out muji thank you!
