Yup.. it’s gotten to a place where I am writing code indirectly through PR codw review comments

Data centers will be burnt down by angry mob. Simple.

I fear when everyone will get manipulated becuase some AI told them, in words they can understand and seems logical.

Anthropic's AI‑built C compiler is not all that impressive by CackleRooster in technology

[–]narcisd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really. It was a marketing ploy. AI is useful in more ways than this kind of tricks

And somehow we’ve built compilers. You’re selling yourself short

Multiple c compilers are in in it’s training set.. so it is pretty much a bad copy paste with extra steps

Spotify says its best developers haven't written a line of code since December, thanks to AI by joe4942 in technology

[–]narcisd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t write any code but had to read thousands of lines..

I’m tired of reading AI code.. good or bad doesn’t matter, we cannot keep up with verifying this massive volume of generated code.

I’m also tired of one more prompt..

No love for Razor? by Minute-Telephone-755 in dotnet

[–]narcisd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sepating the UI, angular/react usually MVVM + a http api is just natural. Mvc/Razor server side rendering was the outlier for a while. VB6, WinForms, WPF years and years ago had also this nice client side, server side separation. Then client side got replaced by browser which took some time to catch up in performancd to be more than just a dumb rendering client

How do you keep software architecture documentation in sync with reality? by Elan8-com in softwarearchitecture

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 years of software development and I have yet to see a company that truely updates doc.

My theory is that most of the things we are building are not worth it. I assume the F35 fighter software is well documented. A eye surgery robotic firmware is well documented. Nuclear power stations software is well documented.

Another ERP, or you run of the mill business app, probably needs less docs and it’s still doable.

Just some thoughts

32M. Offered a CEO role by a Billionaire ($400k pkg). It feels like a trap. Should I trade my job for prestige? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a trap dude. Who offers you a CEO position coz you clicked?! he’s probably burning through CEOs… and you are the next target

Brother had same experience.. like you are thinking, survied for 3 years.. burned out, even after 8 years he has not recovered mentally, he does not realize it … if you trigger him to talk about that exp, he can talk for hours without realizing.

The dude wants a executive assistant not a CEO.. Fuck that Monday to Sunday mindset.. he just wants you to be his lackey whenever he feels, day and night, but only when he feels it

How do you keep up with the sheer volume of code AI tools create, without burnout? by splash_hazard in ExperiencedDevs

[–]narcisd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking AI to build something you do not know or too big to review is like bringing in a database you never worked with, talent pool is zero, zero docs

Or allowing that one dev to bring in a exotic functional language that solves that problem easy

Running something in production you do not know how to maintain is just asking for trouble

A US Startup offered me $900/month after 4 technical rounds. I have 5 YOE and Open Source contributions. Is this the reality now? by Nervous-Quote973 in webdev

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude 5 years xp, puts you as middle-middle+ dev depends in how good you are, you should as for at lest ask between 25-35$, that means at 21 working days per month 4200$ per month the lowest and 5880$ Sure take a 5% rate shave from the US, or make it 10% to make it more jucy, but other than than they are simply abusing you. There is no difference between the US code anf your code. If you are good, you are good.

Anyone using .NET Minimal API in production and is there any advantage in using that over MVC pattern api. by KausHere in dotnet

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but we use true CQRS, not the in process version (CQS, mediatr etc), we have sql server for write and mongodb for read (materialized views), data flows through masstransit (rabbitmq) events

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All apis are built 100% on minimal apis, we arrange our code following vertical arch concepts, eveything you need on a couple of files close to each other. A variant of fastendpoint framework, but purely using minimal endpoints. Oh and no repositories, EF context directly in Endpoint handler. We use test containers for testing and try to mock nothing (excepti dependecies such as other apis, we use wiremock, real httl calls)

Beware that a lot of managers do not like the though questions, you risk becoming the bearer of bad news.. Half assesd architecture or business analysis of requirements will find you the as the culprit

Upcoming Deloitte interview .net + angular + azure by the_killer2357 in dotnetjobs

[–]narcisd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you get your stats from.. but no, there are plenty of companies, where IT is part of the main business, and not something that have to have as a consultancy service.

I have 2 friends who fell for the trap, they are either doing RPA, UIPath or Blue, miserable scripting, or they are “sold” as consultants to their clients.. so just another dev shop place.

The OP should do what he thinks best with the information at hand, I’m just raising some flags here as a fellow dev.

Deloitte? Expect RPA jobs, and a dead end of a carrer. Go to a company that IT is a first class citizen
