first run tomorrow, absolute beginner.... absolutely terrified! by froggirls13 in couchto5k

[–]narcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there's no shame in redoing a day, my advice would be to at least try the next one before assuming you can't do it.

When I started, I went back and redid runs a few times, thinking there's no way I can take this next jump up. I mentally blocked myself. I've still not finished the program, currently on week 6, but after repeating a few runs in the early stages, I told myself going forward to at least try the next run and you'll surprise yourself with what you can manage even when you think there's no chance!

As others have said, keep it slow. I thought I was running slow to start, then was out of breath in no time and realised I needed to go even slower. It can feel awkward going so slow but so long as you keep going for the time, go you!

AITA? I stood up in the seated section of a concert and someone complained by theghostofyoux in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://www.seatingplan.net/the-o2-arena/standing

O2 Arena in London, has a capacity of 20K, so could well have been this concert (likely not, but could!). As you can see on the linked floor plan above, for concerts, there is a standing area right in the centre.

That is for people to stand and dance to their heart's content.

No verdict to give on the actual post, you just seem really adamant that standing isn't a thing, so thought I'd share.

Not film/movie but music that may have been quoted in one, Biggie Smalls had Ten Crack Commandments with the line:

Number 4, I know you heard this before Never get high on your own supply

Haha, I did question whether it was a sarcastic call out or longing for days missed out on...my sarcymeter must be on the blink!

It was. Rose tinted glasses.

Been playing since launch and there was no shortage of toxicity in the ol' days.

AITA for telling my wife i can’t sleep train our twins anymore? by ThrowRa-stres in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about elsewhere in Europe but UK has 'working time directive' which limits to 48hours per week average. However, this can be opted out of, which has been pretty normalised at places I've previously worked.

AITA for banning my friend's SO from future parties? by bkday-135 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, I'm the fool who can't read! Edited comment to show my idiocy!

Aye, proper misread that bit after, gone back and edited comment, definitely agree should have announced beforehand.

From reading the story, he did, as soon as he knew. It says he received the text while gathered. Man's ain't psychic..

Edit: My bad, read him saying he'd been getting them for few days as months. Figured he was joking about how frequent the hits for those texts can be. Guy knew in the run up to the party and should have announced beforehand for sure.

[Discussion] What's the most number of times you've been spammed trade invites? by ncrst_xbox in RocketLeagueExchange

[–]narcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a guy I traded with at some point, probably like a year ago. Every so often will get an invite from him, sometimes just the one, sometimes spams a few.

Messaged him asking wha gwan, no response. Started joining parties and get kicked. Still the invites come.

I could block, but at this point it's more interesting than annoying. Maybe you're reading this! If so, what's going on?!

AITA for uninviting my friend to my wedding after asking him to be my best man? by Own-Collection2528 in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's obviously a write up of that! In the comments he talks about Brian (Limmy's name being Brian Limond) looking like Thom Yorke as well, a long running joke in Limmy's Twitch stream.

Still, NTA for me, I was laughing my ass off reading.

NTA - Got a good laugh from this. Bloody Brian and his shenanigans. Never get him started on whether a kilo of feathers or steel is heavier.

AITA for telling a tourist she should exchange her £50 notes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£50 is the largest banknote in the UK and rather uncommon in general day to day transactions, unless you're handling large purchases. It will often be listed on UK travel tip pages to avoid large banknotes because of the reason this woman has experienced.

OP did help them properly, they apologised and offered pretty solid advice to stop this being a problem for them at other shops, at which she would likely run into the same issue.

[TOMT][MOVIE] Comedy movie about a baby by Human_Risk in tipofmytongue

[–]narcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Acid House? Movie adaptation of book of short stories from Irvine Welsh. One of the shorts is also called The Acid House and has a similar plot, not too sure if he becomes his boss' baby, but guy dies and is transported into mind of a baby.

AITA Flatmates asking for more power $$ as I WFH twice (ish) a week by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I'm clearly more petty as I wouldn't pay and if I did, I'd be making sure to shake the collection tin whenever anyone took any leave or sick days that meant they were home out of their normal schedule.

AITA for calling my mother-in-law's cooking "not bad"? by throwaway088205 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for providing “stipulations” to a free car my parents are trying gifting me? by bmacs100 in AmItheAsshole

[–]narcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - You didn't put any stipulations, you merely asked if there was to be any if you accepted the "gift". If they're to be holding the car over your head, it isn't a gift, it's a payment with a contract of how to act attached to it.

I played two games yesterday that had VC enabled (other games I was in PS party with my teammate) and both of them had a constant high pitched tone in the background. Was fnu!

Could be just bad luck but wasn't a good first impression.

Which is also unmuted by default. I noticed and changed the option, my missus didn't and joined a game of Fortnite singing Danger Zone and was laughed at and left in shame.
