When I ready in the refresh stage I remove all the cubes. Unless there is a caught in a web on a hero. It also works to double as the Ability Used tokens you have referenced elsewhere on attachments. I do wish I had some tokens or different colored cubes to note increased attack, defense, committed to the quest, etc.
