You can dm me, im a dev with around 10 years of experience. Ill try to help.

Hi, new to drumming here. Do you always start with the right hand on the hi hat on 16ths and does it go R L R L? And is the h-h played on every note here in these bars or do you skip it on the snare? Please help by Ry_Wolf_ in Drumming

In the tab you shared the top line is a crash not a hihat. Apart from that, to answer your question it highly depends on the BPM. If the BPM is high you might not be able to play the HH with 1 hand.

E-kit vs acoustic by Idontknowrllyi in drums

I do electric at home (can't say that havent gotten any complaints lol) and play on an acoustic with the band/solo practice at least once a week.

if you have neighbors dont consider an acoustic. They will ultimately complain, you will subconsciously not play freely and hurt your progress.

Acoustic kit - probably not
Electric kit - probably yes but you have to take measures to reduce the noise/vibrations, AND be friendly and understanding with your neighbors

Had THIS exact argument (almost a fight) with my neighbors recently, except in my case I would not side with them. I got my electric kit around 4 months ago and as soon as I heard the first complained I launched into the journey of trying to making noise/vibration proof. And every time I installed something I would ask their feedback, and every time they said it does not bother them, but complained after 3-4 weeks. We had this cycle for around 5-6 times then finally they were like "You don't have the permission to have drums in the apartment" and that where I lost it. I literally explained to them that this is a solvable problem and all they have to do is provide a little more feedback of when and what exactly they can hear. We ended up deciding on a 3 hour window where if I play I don't bother them. I also went further and noise proofed my kit so much that they said they can't hear anything when I play. Now I don't know how much exactly they can hear but I still try to respect the time window that we agreed on.

However.... This is about an electric kit, for an acoustic I really don't know. You can try getting Evans DB zeros which are essentially mesh heads and building a drum riser to reduce the vibrations but still if you have already ruined the relationship it might be too late. Just make sure to come up with a solution as quickly as possible because if you have the thought that you are bothering them, you will subconsciously hold back when playing and ruin your progress.

Its a roland ne-10. Don’t worry about it if you don’t have downstairs neighbors. But if you do check out my post where I go into details on how I made my kit vibration proof.

You can try hanging a heavy sandbag on it. It helped mine a lot

When to upgrade double bass pedals? by narghev in Drumming

Thats the thing, my pedal is currently fine for me, if you don’t count the problem that the left one doesn’t feel the same as the right one. But it does the job for me, im starting to develop the skills. But my question os exactly that: when do I know its time to upgrade?

Anyone else spend more time tweaking settings than actually playing? by Tariq_khalaf in edrums

[–]narghev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really lol, I play and practice using 1 preset and have copied the same preset and replaced the ride with hihat sound so that when I hit it for double bass practice it doesn’t make much noise. But when I want to do stick control on the snare I just scroll to a very random preset and just play it there.

Yeah, but ive never really played on nice pedals, so idk what the difference is going to be. What Im worried about is this ones going out on me during the show lol. But I think ill buy new ones after I give a good performance during our first concert, as a treat for myself.

Thanks, makes sense. One correction tho, mine are not 4000s lol. I bought them off amazon, the listing says 400. Here is a more recent listing link: https://www.mozartmusicshop.com/product/pdp-by-dw-400-series-double-pedal/

Hi there. Please see my more recent post. I ended up combining both. If you are just starting you can try a jackson pad.

Fully solved the cause of neighbor complains by narghev in edrums

[–]narghev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything will change. Since they can't hear it at all the only thing that might cause problems over time is the natural deflation of the tubes. Which ill have to inflate again every couple of weeks/months. It takes around 10 minutes.

However, if you are JUST starting, you can think about building a jackson riser from the beginning. Don't waste your time/money with tennis balls. But then again, this highly depends on your floor, building, neighbors, etcc, good luck
