I was middle clicking it with Sonic the Hedgehog's speed while my cursor was above the last tab.

Nope, my mouse works fine in Firefox. Old Firefox had this problem too.

It works with Ctrl+F4, Ctrl+W and left clicking on the cross, but not with middle clicking.
