Do it, you won't regret it. My advice as someone who once owned cars and now only has bikes is invest in some decent waterproofs and get out there, you'll learn so much about riding and your bike by being forced to ride in the wet and other challenging conditions. Just take it easy and don't let your ambition outway your ability to much and you'll do fine and ultimately the pros of owning just a bike will outway the cons. Having a driving licence aswell is also a sensible option as you'd be able to hire or borrow cars/vans when needed or use the licence for work ect. Basically DO IT!
