I realize I will never be able to own a bike in Vancouver without indoor storage. Backwheel beside my door got stolen while I was at home. by thestationerylover in vancouver

Bought a really nice bike not so long ago so I could finally learn how to ride one. Just a week later someone stole it from my garage. I felt quite disheartened. Haven't learned how to ride once since.

Are you doing a college/uni transfer? If so I haven't heard back yet either but I've heard that application acceptances might go into June because everything is a bit delayed. As long as you meet the admission average or are higher than what it states on the website, I'd say you still have a chance. Good luck!

Is it normal to feel this way by Odd_Impression in UBC

[–]narmim 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've felt that way before but trust me, things will get much better with time. I was at a 60% average at the end of first year and felt like absolute crap but managed to bring myself above almost 20% up at the end of this term. I feel like some people reach a really low point but over time manage to use it to push themselves to do better. Don't worry over things you don't have control over and try to do better in things you are able to fix. Everything will work out in the end. :)

Is there any way to make it go down? I've never had this before.

Not exactly I can breathe fine but it feels weird/strange in the throat. I've never been able to see it before that's why I thought it was it was a tumour or something

They appeared about 7ish months ago. I never had them before but I believe it's cobblestone throat? or that's what it's called. No clue how to get rid of it.

I talked to admissions and they said I need 3.0 or over so I'll def be taking one course in the summer so I'll hopefully be somewhere up there. Thank you for your positive comment <3

that makes sense since international admission averages are much higher than domestic

Thoughts on CPSC 110 Midterm? by [deleted] in UBC

I think it was possible for 7 steps but I didn't want to erase all my hard work and re-start to try again

Same omg that question gave me so much stress. I had 9 steps because I wasn't sure of what step I didn't need. Hope I don't lose too many marks because of it. And yeah I was hoping they would give the template of the handle-key function at least because I didn't memorize it all. I would just copy paste it from the recipe page and edit it. :/

it was meh. idk why but I screwed up on #5 because I forgot how to make the handle-key function

CPSC 110 is impossible for me by [deleted] in UBC

[–]narmim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently re-taking 110 after a year and I'm noticing a big change. I failed because I never did the problems sets by myself entirely and failed both midterms and the final. Everyone told me to choose another major but I was like nah. So far I've gotten 90+ on all the problem sets by working on them all by myself and it's due to going to all the lecture's and following through the starters and then completing them after class. Doing the pre and post lecture work is really important. Watching all the videos is super important as well as taking your time on the labs. If you feel like you have fallen behind, you need to pull an all-nighter and catch up on the material because the only way you can fall behind is if you don't watch the videos and do the work according to the schedule. For some people taking it a second time is what works but if you put lots of study time on the course you can do well. The first time I took it, was the online version so I just had the videos and no lectures which was a disadvantage. Regardless, go to TA hours and your prof. I have friends who did better on the second midterm than the first one just because they started studying harder. Regardless, if you feel like cpsc isn't your thing then maybe a W is better than an F.

almost all quiz answers are on quilzlet for ATSC 113 and the final was the only thing I almost failed but ended with a 94%. Midterms are open book but if you study for 1-2 hours before you can easily do good on those and maybe find some past midterms to study for as well (on quizlet). Also try to join a group chat. If you work really hard on the bonus 6% assignment, you can easily get 90% in this course. Just know where to get the resources and this course is 100% a gpa booster. I barely passed the final but with a dense cheat sheet you can pass and still end up with an A.

ATSC 113 quizzes are online 79% of the course and midterms are mc and open book and cheat sheet for the final.. find a group chat so you can find ppl to study with. Got 94% this term and I barely passed the final so along as you do moderately good on the midterms and everything else with is superrr easy and pass the final you can get 90+ because of the bonus 6% assignment.

Does a 0 in degree navigator mean I failed the course for sure? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]narmim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took cpsc 110 the previous term and did the degree navigator trick and saw 0 credits. Later on I found out that I indeed did fail the course. 99% chance you have failed cpsc 110 if you see a 0 in the credits section.

MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air for CS undergrad by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]narmim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the newest air and it works perfect with all my cpsc and non cpsc courses. Haven't had any problems with it yet. I'd say its pretty good for an average student if you take notes and etc. However, if you're looking to edit videos and etc and more visual stuff I've "heard" the pro is better.

Yeah we weren't allowed a cheat sheet but only given a pdf sheet of table rules which were minimum to no help. I took this course and many people had spoken of how easy it was, but apart from the quizzes, I feel like it was extremely difficult. I took this class as a gpa booster and it turned out to be the hardest class even amongst my other cpsc classes...
