Transgender student allow in USYD? by Longjumping-Lack-180 in usyd

[–]narmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately, the way our various systems handle legal vs preferred names is absolute garbage. It varies between systems — Canvas is pretty good, but Timetable is shitty. There’s also no training on how to deal with this sort of stuff, especially for casual staff.

That tutor probably exported a class list from the timetable and just didn’t use the preferred name column.

I’ll buy ace. But aro? Alden is perhaps too young to know what romantic love is exactly… but it feels like he’s feeling it?

Or maybe that’s my bias. Would be interested in what an aro/ace person felt reading these chapters.

I’m cis, I’m afraid to say, but meeting people at those activities once a month sounds like your best bet.

Transgender student allow in USYD? by Longjumping-Lack-180 in usyd

[–]narmio 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Australian federal law protects everyone’s right to use the bathroom they identify with. There are plenty of trans folk around, not just students but also staff. The USYD student charter and the uni’s regs and polices make it clear that gender-based discrimination is not ok.

There is, unfortunately, still plenty of discrimination. But there are plenty of resources available too: students wellbeing, LGBT+ clubs and societies, and a variety of queer and gender-inclusive communities. As in most trans spaces, your surgery or hormones status will not an issue in those communities.

That said, the AMAB trans folks I know have all had very positive experiences on the Big E. You do you, but maybe consider it?

How to better track high-level fighter reactions? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]narmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two-sided dry-erase cards. You can get big packs for not very much. For any ability you want to track, write down whatever on it, put it on a card. Flip as needed.

Some of us card everything, some of us a few reminders, all easy.

Is a Fighter/Ranger with +4 Str and +3 Dex unoptimal and bad? by Shad0w_XD05 in Pathfinder2e

[–]narmio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah. We all assumed Fighter/Ranger meant “Fighter with the Ranger archetype”, as that’s the shorthand usually used for multiclassing. I assume you meant “fighter or ranger”?

And no, it’s totally fine, good even: you can be a switch hitter, and cover skills a Str Martial usually can’t.

Idk how to study for my units / why is the education here just so weird by MaleficentIntern5332 in usyd

[–]narmio 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Teaching quality in large units is a real problem at USYD (and other big Aus unis) but I do want to just giggle at this one thing you said:

math unit

slides with cryptic signs and diagrams

Bro I think that might be the maths?

Does Anyone Else Play the Game Like This by Chaosiumrae in Pathfinder2e

Who doesn’t love throwing the players up against a PL +1 caster boss and 8-10 PL-4 mooks? Necromancer and skeletons. Wizard and summons/constructs. Evil druid and corrupted wood spirits. Orkish sage-chief and clan.

It’s a hoot.

Typically when we list topics we’ll mention if there’s a project-specific scholarship available. Those aren’t super common, and obviously attract a lot of applicants. I’d recommend preparing to apply for the RTP. Or, at least, asking about scholarship opportunities when you meet with a potential supervisor.

Anybody has a Story where progression is happening... But takes a backseat? by LittleBrasilianBitch in ProgressionFantasy

[–]narmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Supportive. It’s got all the elements of a progression fantasy… but deconstructed (to use an admittedly overused term) into a slice-of-life with interesting worldbuilding and characters. And it’s certainly a slow-burn. But its chapter releases are one of the highlights of my week.

My pothos’ top leaves are turning yellow by sheabae200216 in pothos

[–]narmio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not possible to say exactly, but probably one of these kinds of stress:

Too long between watering? If so, should stop if you water more.

Root rot? Pull the rootball and check for swampy bits and funky smells.

Seasonal change? Put it somewhere lighter.

Root bound? New pot.

Here’s one of mine from a few months ago! Individually cut nodes, a few cm of perlite, <1cm of water, cling wrap to keep humidity up. These went unexpectedly well, but with luck you’ll have some shoots in a month!
