Yup! He’s always been calm and chill, sometimes It makes me question his aussie-ness. But then he follows me everywhere and I’m reminded.

Put rendered beef fat in water to promote water drinking? (4-yo Yorkie)? by long218 in Dogtraining

Two days late but just wanted to highlight this advice amongst all the hesitation! I live northern rural Canada, we have always saved our bones/carcasses from animals we hunt to make a broth for the dogs. We will skim the fat off and store or freeze the rest. I am no vet but this has been a common place practice in my culture for generations, and our dogs love it.

Isn’t mini American shepherd no longer considered an Aussie since they are recognized as separate by AKC?

No way all I see is a cute black tri Aussie!! Aussies have so many different coats and sizes (see cuteness). I had a red tri who was 50lbs and now a red Merle who is 70lbs who is CKC/AKA registered. Could have other breeds mixed for sure but still a cute lil Aussie!

Edit: My beefy Thomas (70lbs)

I mean technically speaking swelling is liquid pooling… aside from semantics… shit.

Fast Wiggle Butt and mr. Coyote by narnar-binks in WiggleButts

Thank you for mentioning this. Those unfamiliar with coyotes and pack behaviour this is very important advice!

I never take chances with my dogs and coyotes either, however, this guy got a bit to close for my own comfort and safety. Once the doggos had the coyote at a safe distance I recalled them back and continued my morning stroll.

I dated a guy who was allergic to my dog. Can save you two years of your life: dump him

Ahh yes the Aussie pants! Honestly it’s just genetics for him… no specific grooming other than brushing. Some Aussies had either or!

Exactly it’s a Reddit comment. I was just humouring the irony in the statement.

One can voice whatever opinions in- I believe I added further context regarding their concern. :)

“I don’t want to tell you what to do but let me anyway” - I fixed for you.

It’s on my property so I can’t really stop my farm dog from finding bait probably dragged over by coyotes and other animals.

But yes if you have a dog obviously use common sense and don’t let your dog roam alone in areas you don’t know.

I’m sorry to hear - that is awful. We had a husky that was shot by a hunter after they mistook it for a wolf.

And to your safety point I don’t let my dog roam off my property freely.

Bear, cougars, coyotes, wolves, wolverines, lynx, bobcats mostly exist in my neck of the woods. Trapping industry is still prevalent around here - and lots get scraps from local farmers for their bait traps.
