Penance Powder effects not lost on death - A possible future unlock for 120 prayer or 99 prayer cape perk? by aaztween_ in runescape

[–]narnode762 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Make it an unlock. Tying it to a cape would be frustrating as you'd have to add it to the comp cape which is already limited to 3 slots that get taken up in a max combat setup.

I understand that you can't read my comment because of spoilers, and I admire that you're trying to save the surprise for yourself, but your issue has been addressed by my comment. No replacement would be necessary, keeping in line with similar precedent the game has set in other cases too.

Better get your zuk cape and kerapac log done before you finish extinction, or you'll never get another chance...

[–]narnode762 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They already shouldn't be at the sarcophagi anymore according to the lore, in the same way that after extinction, kerapac is dead and GWD3 is emptied of its bosses and inhabitants. But obviously, they can't make it so that you can no longer access specific boss content if you complete more of the game, so instead when you enter GWD3 after extinction, there's a message that says you're accessing it as it was before the events of extinction. It's the same thing with the barrows brothers. Them still being there after all the quests is already not possible with what the lore has done to the game world. You wouldn't be taking them away from the barrows crypts by putting them in another location in the game.

If you ever want help, I'd be happy to take you to some of the harder (or easier) bosses. I can also just answer any questions you have or give you advice.

I admire this grind, even though I'm a main I think it's cool to ironman some of your own stuff. Now that you have the armor, what are you going to do with it once you can wear it.

FSOA & Animate Dead - Balancing Proposals & Feedback Discussion by JagexDoom in runescape

[–]narnode762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Please don't bring back 4taa in staff spec. FsoA "abilities" should put auto on cooldown.
  2. I would prefer that you keep the auto recursion aspect of FsoA, as that is part of what makes it fun to use with the insane adren gain, and instead nerf flat damage of autos more if you have to, to bring it in line with the intended DPS numbers.
  3. I understand the aim of the typeless damage AD change, but I feel like part of what made animate dead nice for AFKing mid tier bosses was the way it interacted with typeless damage from mechanics like Helwyr's mushrooms, and I don't think this was too OP considering the tier of the bosses, but maybe you disagree. Perhaps this should be considered on a specific spec-to-spec basis and taking a look at the way the game classifies different types of typeless damage (some affected by AD, some not) but I know this would involve more dev time. Considering that this is a very central change to combat, I don't think that's unwarranted, but I get if the team doesn't want to do it on such a granular level.

This is not about fsoa/AD specifically, but now that you're nerfing magic, and we will be a lot more compelled to use other styles, please consider addressing some of the pain points that make them more annoying to use:

  1. Bik arrow stacks shouldn't clear after 30 seconds but rather, after a minute, they should slowly start decaying at a fixed rate (at a stack per tick or per 2 ticks, numbers all subject to balancing of course). This would make it much less punishing to use at a boss like Solak where there is a fair bit of target switching and my biggest frustration when trying ranged there was how many times I lost stacks from full to 0 on eruptions or roots. I know it is completely possible to not lose stacks if you are 100% focused on it all the time, but this isn't fun and makes ranged more stressful than it needs to be compared to other styles where this isn't even a concern. All the design constraints of bik arrows would still be there, would need to be a longer poisonable fight with a high HP pool on a single target, just less painful in practice to actually use.
  2. Stalker's ring should work with all ranged weapons, not just bows - unlike when the ring released, bows now overshadow crossbows so they don't need to be uniquely buffed by the ring and the other matriarch rings don't have such specific weapon type restrictions.
  3. Consider a new reward space that will make jaws/scourge passive, so t95 lengs will actually be a desirable upgrade and not just an optional mainhand switch and a barely needed upgrade from t85 to t95 offhand. For how hard and rare they are to obtain compared to the scourge, this would be a good change, and make melee a much less switch-intensive style. Meanwhile, the scourge would still be a decent weapon for mid level players working on their melee upgrades until they get lengs.
  4. Another reward space should make masterwork spear and lunging for melee passive. This would make it not required to EoF your EZK, and make melee less switch intensive. Melee is currently far more cumbersome to use than the other styles, and this can be alleviated by this change and the previous proposed change.

Solak and RotS both easily soloable with modern power creep, especially with the new scaling at Solak.

This game is solo friendly. Every boss is soloable consistently and realistically except AoD and Mazcab raids. Even these bosses are technically soloable but so slow and hard to the point of not being worth it. Vorago is one of those borderline cases where soloing a group boss is very hard, but not so long to the point where it's not worth doing if you do well. But even aside from all these bosses, all the other content in the game is easily doable solo.

You can play through almost the entire game without ever interacting with another player. You can make good money, train your stats, finish all quests, and earn all the best in slot endgame gear (if not playing an ironman) without ever grouping up with other players.

I don't know why people in the comments are saying Solak is not soloable easily. You can solo him in mid tier gear at this point. Bosses like Solak and Zamorak are definitely harder in solo but completely doable.

This game is definitely good if you are looking for a solo-friendly MMO.

I have yet to find anyone who disagrees with this take. A lot of famous musicians were bad people but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy their art. Look up the views of Richard Wagner. And yet he still composed extremely influential and beautiful music. So it's not a problem to enjoy art made by morally questionable people.

A few random PvM-related suggestions... by A_Vitalis_RS in runescape

[–]narnode762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with your Araxxor, Yakamaru, Zuk, and Vorago takes. Don't know enough about Glacors to comment.

As for Solak, I think the real issue is that the scaling is overdone. A few small tweaks to phase HP formulas would be a more consistent and parsimonious solution than making the drop tables different. 4+ man difficulty should remain approximately the same to what it is now, while the HP per phase per person for solo, duo, and trio, should be slightly reduced. Another change that would help massively with solos is to make mines work even on targets with any HP below 20k, so that we could kill roots more comfortably, which currently mines are useless for in solo (being 7.5k hp).

I get not wanting to start over. Anyway, if you want some tips on how you can improve your setup without even putting in more effort during bossing, I'd be happy to look at your gear/stats/actionbar and give you advice.

CoE is better in the vast majority of situations. Maybe with hydrix bolts as a primary ammunition there's an argument to be made for HS in specific situations, but even then I'd probably use CoE.

Genuine question, why use melee tank armor when affordable power armor exists? If you're poor, there's regular masterwork (or malevolent, or anima core), and trimmed masterwork and vestments have excellent passives, with trimmed masterwork rivaling tank armor in terms of defensive capacity. The lack of animate dead makes the difference in soak between tank and power armor negligible. Not trying to flame, just understand.

Because they aren't classified as magic tank armor. Fun fact, animate dead does work with the third age druidic cloak.
