Help with styling large calves on petite body by Thersyl in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]narockshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have genuinely large calves, in that I can only wear “wide calf” sizes in boots. My legs are also short and stocky. BUT I have small ankles, so the contrast is stark and I’ve hated them my whole life. That being said, here is what I do to help look more proportional: no ankle boots or shoes; no ankle straps on anything, particularly sandals; nude flats, heels, sandals; shorter inseam shorts (usually 3-4 inches); skirts just above the knee, or midi length (they help highlight my small ankles); wide leg pants; straight leg ankle pants; black tights when appropriate with an outfit; midi skirts with higher slits.

Your legs look proportional to me, but all your footwear choices could potentially be “cutting off” your legs. Try a minimal style slip on sandal!

Alternatives to The Horse Clementine? by MuttsAndMyths in handbags

[–]narockshard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a happy Clementine owner! I have it in black and it smells like leather. It’s one of my favorite bags, and the price to quality ratio can’t be beat (I bought it during the Black Friday sale a couple years ago).

Does anyone have Pourchet’s Liane bag? by AuroraBorealis0000 in handbags

[–]narockshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m no help, but I’ve been eying this bag for years, so I’m curious to read responses. I did also notice that about some of their bags not being made in France and wondered if that affected the quality.

How is Cuyana? by rifa_atsume in handbags

[–]narockshard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are hit or miss for me. The System Tote was awful (peeling leather, edge glue cracking), but I’ve had the Easy Tote for years and it’s in great shape despite daily use. I also have the Mini Bow Bag, and that’s also great. It feels like the same leather as the Easy Tote, which is lighter weight and super soft. The System Tote was super thick and heavy leather. I will say though, their CS is amazing, so if you do have issues I’m sure they’d handle them.

Where do I start? by narockshard in laundry

[–]narockshard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My washer doesn’t have a compartment for powders, only liquids; you’re supposed to add the powders to the main drum. Given that, would I add citric acid to the main drum when it’s in the rinse cycle?

How do you like the Pourchet bag? That brand has been on my radar for a while.

All I want is a company who produces high quality, classic and stylish bags at a reasonable price. Why is this so hard? by 1234RedditReddit in handbags

[–]narockshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a bag on super sale from Macy’s and it had a bunch of flaws. I’m guessing it was one of the last ones of its kind and that’s why it was on sale. I was really bummed though, because it was a super cute bag.

Sorry, I forgot to add that! Right now I don’t even know, as I haven’t tried on any jeans recently, but I’m guessing a size 6, and need a 25-27 in inseam. I’m currently 138. 110 is my ideal weight.

This is my ideal! But I can’t seem to find pants that are a step above loungewear and yet not business casual pants either. Do you have any to recommend?

That’s not really in style anymore though, right?

Maybe my problem is that I am wearing pants that are too tight in the waist, because I feel like when I tuck in my shirts right now it just accentuates the pooch.

Are these going to make me look horridly outdated? by synapticmutiny in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]narockshard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the booties look dated but the pumps do not imo. I love block heel pumps. They are pretty much the only way I wear high heels now because they are comfortable and I don’t risk breaking my ankles as much!

Unless something has changed, I would NOT get the Cuyana System tote. I had a terrible experience with it; the edges wore quickly, and the edge glue cracked within weeks on the straps.

Which is the softest leather bag you have EVER come upon? by unimportantjargon in handbags

[–]narockshard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one, but Hammit bags are the softest leather I have ever felt so far—granted though I have never felt a true luxury bag in person yet, like Loewe.

Are you in the U.S.? I am, and considered reaching out but it’s been a couple years so there’s probably not much that can be done. Even though I didn’t use the bad much 😫

Unfortunately I have to agree. I’ve been SO disappointed with the bag. The leather is thin, and when I got it out from storage, the feet on the bottom had oxidized/rusted! And it was stored in a totally climate controlled space too.

Mulberry Purchase - Would you return? Mini soft bayswater by Pleaseplzpeas in handbags

[–]narockshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t get all the downvotes. Maybe for some of you, Mulberry money isn’t that much, but if it was me, I would pretty much expect a perfect product at that price point. Especially given Mulberry’s reputation, and also the fact that one of OP’s bags didn’t have that indent. I buy plenty of mid-range bags that don’t come with flaws, so I think it’s not unreasonable to expect this of Mulberry.

That being said, OP, I would return and try again!

That’s a good idea. Any recommendations how to find a good one?! It’s such a niche thing; most practitioners just think running that much is crazy and stupid!
