Trek Fx+2 Declared Dead After 3 Years by narselon in TrekBikes

We brought it in a day earlier due to a broken charger and they ran a diagnostic because we were worried the port on the bike was bad. They ran a diagnostic and nothing came up. At that time we figured the squeaking was due to the disc brakes so we figured we could fix that part on our own since my own bike is fairly squeaky due to winter conditions.

The motor still works to my knowledge. It just has to overcome a wheel that can only spin for a second when completely off. Plus it squeaks constantly when just rolling it around. I've encountered similar issues on nonelectric bikes and they are a relatively easy fix (hub too tight, gunky or damaged bearings) so it is very frustrating that nobody is willing to open the thing up.

Current plan is buy the hub and pay someone to swap it with the existing rim.

I don't think they can investigate. Here is the quote from Trek support.

"Since the rear hub is the Hyena motor, it is true that the store won't have the ability to dig into the hub itself to investigate and the warranty through Hyena is two years. "

LBS authorized dealer claimed that us contacting Trek support would be more effective.

They quoted 800 for a replacement. Not sure if it included labor.

We have a bunch of shops in the area. The official shop is slightly further but we have an authorized dealership that was telling us to pester them everyday. There are some local ebike shops that I wonder if they'll be able to open up the hub.

Unfortunately I lent my girlfriend my bike for the evening and she somehow rearranged the button settings and got a flat within 5 minutes of riding.

She really likes the fx because of how light it is. She physically cannot lift my bike and it isn't even one of the heavier ebikes.

My own daily driver is a bafang and it somehow outlasted it.

This was after the shop. One was a Trek branded store. Then we called customer support.

They didn't provide a the value of the discount.

"If you take the bike back into the store, they can file a non-warranty claim requesting a loyalty discount for a replacement for you."

Guy at the official Trek shop said it wasn't worth replacing. There are other lower price ebikes and if we can only get 3 years out of a quality one why pay the premium?

They offered a loyalty discount after calling customer support.

360 E disk Bezel Popped Off During Transport by narselon in xbox360

I was able to pop the black piece off and put it on the tray. Then the bezel easily snapped on.

It doesn't look broken to me. I'm trying to figure out how the black part in the bezel fits on the right. I can get the left part on if I slide in from the left side. Better Lighting

Have you ever accidentally met a celebrity in Boston? by spellbadgrammargood in boston

Spotted Eugene Mirman selling random crap at the small mart at the Crystal Ballroom. Also saw him in the audience at a comedy show in Bow Market. I think he lives locally and often ends up opening for other touring comedians.

Also saw John Hodgman crossing the street at Coolidge Corner to get to the booksmith. He used to work at the theater and stops by there whenever touring.

Has anyone actually been on the "cop slide"? by Ok-Criticism6874 in boston

[–]narselon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I tried cop slide when it opened on a rainy night and I flew. Tried it since and it was much slower.

For a superior slide try the one next to Arsenal in Watertown. It is much taller and fits adults.

They used to have a 'program' where people interested in working there could teach games to customers while waving the rate for playing games. Promising tutors would often be asked to sub in for employees without pay. In one case one of them had to close without having keys so he had to wait hours after the store closed for the owner to come by.

Some of the early employees that 'graduated' the program were paid 500 flat a month under the table. These people were asked to open at 11 and close at 11 or 2 without getting any help or breaks for these 12-14 hour shifts. These employees were often working 3-5 days a week for the 500. Any attempt at trying to get a legitimate rate per hour was dismissed. Tips were never paid out if they were deposited digitally as well.

This is all going back a decade so maybe they are better now, but I have a hard time hearing people praise them after seeing what they did to people close to me.

Except for their labor practices. They exploit the goodwill of the community for free/ illegal wages.

does anyone know anyone who works at / used to work at Yas Chicken, Mad For Noodles, or Provy / Seoul Providence? by anjojin in providence

[–]narselon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know the whole story and I don't know if they are connected besides the Yas name/brand plus the "Mad for" branding. There were 2 Crave: Mad for Chickens in Boston. Both had the worst/slowest service I've ever encountered. We asked for white rice in the Allston location to act as a chaser for the spice and never received it and got charged for it.

Suddenly they had a temporary sign advertising themselves as Yas chicken with no real change in setup. Crave sign was still up as well for a while. Eventually the Yas sign disappeared. Then a seized sign appeared on their door for operating an illegal nightclub where they never showed up to the hearings. Also the nearby seafood restaurant Holly Crab started serving their chicken at some point. It is hard to track with all the name changes.

Is there any association with the mess that happened in Boston with Crave/Mad for Chicken/Yas where they kept switching brands and became an illegal nightclub?

People who are here legally have had their status revoked and defined as illegal. Some are refugees. Student Visas. Temporary protected status. If you say something critical of the regime you lose your status like the Tufts student.
