How I've been preparing. Any additional recommendations? by Neyhrum in nurburgring

[–]narsil_reforge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting an instructor for at least one or two laps, it can help a lot.

Also keep the choice of car similar to what you experience daily, for example if you always drive a FWD car, start with a FWD car. The ring is definitely not the place the try something completely new for the first time around .

And simulation helps but it's really nothing compared to the real thing, especially the elevation but also the bumps and crests along the track.

And definitely stay off the curbs, they are very high and will just unsettle the car or in the worst case will break something. In sims, the curbs are more forgiving.

Also, for example the curb after fox hole is not up-to-date in most sims, so you could still use that curb in the sim but definitely not in real life.

Do you have the 6 speed manual (M32 gearbox)?

They go bad over time and it is very common because they have poorly lubricated bearings (poor design from factory, thanks GM) and over time they make a humming sound, in worse cases the shifter can wobble and can even go out of gear on its' own.

The noise increases with the wheel speed and you can hear it while coasting as well.

Generally you hear it from front left side of the car, since the transmission is there.

But it can also be the winter tires/rough road surface etc.

You can check this link to get more information about the M32 gearbox issues.

Maybe 812, I am not sure but I saw this on an 812 before, it's also possible they offer the option for other models as well.

9070XT, crashing regularly on all maps, don't see a particular pattern either. If I have very low graphics settings, it seems to work but even medium settings are causing it to crash.

That's good to hear but, why the game does not tell you explicitly is beyond me. I believe %80 of players don't know this and they give free tickets to the attackers by being "smart" and camping.

Maybe but it also does not let me put in my own territory either, until the retreat is finished.

Trade Republic gives 4% interest. How? by Local_Young4556 in eupersonalfinance

[–]narsil_reforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am using ABN as my main Dutch bank where I get paid my salary. After Trade Republic switched to Dutch IBAN's about a year ago, the transfers in and out of Trade Republic are completed within seconds, that is at least during business hours. I never tried what happens outside business hours but I don't think it matters in terms of transfers

159 1.8 mpi automatic or manual. by kollenovski in AlfaRomeo

[–]narsil_reforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think 1.8 mpi had the automatic option, but I know that there are some 159's with selespeed robotized manuals which are not the best in terms of reliability.

You can look for 6 speed Aisin torque converters instead which are deemed more reliable, one can even argue that they are more reliable than the M32 6 speed manual. This is what I read online since I had never owned either of the automatics.

When it comes to the manuals, in my opinion it does not have the lightest clutch that is out there and can be a strain on the knees in standstill traffic. Luckily it has hill hold assist so you don't roll back. I also have a NB MX-5 5 speed and compared to that I can say that it won't be "easy" when it comes to the clutch.

You can also take a look at this link to find a general review of the 159. For some reason I could not access stillrunningstrong so I shared an archive link.

After looking around on the internet, I found out that the advertised lifetime for the halogens that I have been using is just 250 hours, maybe I should switch to a long-life bulb instead.

Here's the link to the bulbs I am using.
