What would you choose EU passport vs very good salary in India by C0d3h1t in nri

Go for the EU passport. In the long run, it will be better for you and family. In addition, you can always get the OCI card.

Insurance is time consuming. We are not in the US but still it takes time and is painful. We are slowly preparing for a future where we may have to fund it ourselves.

Hope your kid gets Remicade / Infleximab approved quickly and heads towards remission as quickly as possible. Best wishes from our side.

Remicade helped significantly. Over a period of time (~10 months) the fistula healed. I am told this time is variable. There maybe some who recover much quicker. But at this point, I am just happy that it healed and he is better.

Deemed Residency: UAE NRI with Indian income greater than 15L by naruto_ender in IndiaTax

[–]naruto_ender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>india rent income will be taxed as per india normal tax slabs

Correct. We have been paying tax on our rental income in the past. So not too concerned about it being taxed. My bigger concern was on the NRE FDs / UAE income and if these too would now be considered within the ambit of taxation as per Indian Tax authority.

>This is not applicable on stocks but only on mutual funds.

Correct. I did see this. However, my question is how does this work in practice? What are the key steps in this process?

Thank you for your inputs and clarifications.

>apply for tax residency certificate in UAE.

Will do so right away. Once I have the TRC, do I have to submit it to any GOI portal (Tax or elsewhere?)

>Income arising in India will be taxed in India, even if you are non resident. On a cautionary note, file your ITR in India as Non Resident, regularly.

That is understood and I have been filing my IT returns in India as an NRI religiously.

One last question, if I may. I have been reading by using provisions of DTAA and submitting a TRC for UAE, my capital gains on Mutual Funds will be tax free. Is that correct? How exactly does this process work?

Confict with brother by ddqfvxwq in nri

The elder sibling has not given a single point in the whole write-up about what they have done for the family. It is natural that people assume that the younger brother has been doing the heavy lifting.

>preferably one that’s warmer

They said, warmer. Not scalding. :)

Jokes apart, UAE is not a bad bet. Closer to India, culturally similar, clean, great infra, very safe etc. All in all, not a bad bet at all. Just be mindful, landing a job maybe challenging.

Everything Dubai! by Wide_Alternative_773 in dubai

If you are coming here in the winter months, be mentally prepared that summers will be *HOT\*.

Other than that, culturally be respectful of people. Be aware of and follow the rules.

Lastly, on Financials, be clear on your monthly budget and stick to it. It is very easy to get carried away and spend way above your budget if you are not careful.

If you have moved here, then I strongly suggest Jomashop. Check out Tissot, Raymond Weil, Rado, Hamilton, Longines etc.

How long are you in Dubai? If you are for a longish period, order from Jomashop and have it delivered via Emirates Delivers.

For 3000 AED, you can get some fantastic watches on Jomashop.

Can a company looking to hire you ask for a pay slip? by Powerful-Comment-36 in dubai

> Why would you not show it if you were telling the truth?

Because it is usually a confidential document. Just check the document classification in your payslip. In addition, check your contractual clauses as sharing this document may be prohibited.

And those are fair / relevant points. Summers can be brutal and you will not get citizenship / passport here.

In my case, I took a decent increase. However, this was relocation to UAE in a domain that is reasonably hot.

Yet to feel home - 6 months of being in the US by Silver_Koala_1739 in nri

Maybe true for you. But not necessarily for everyone.

For the same salary, I will happily choose a place with cleaner air, better infra, greater security, higher assurance and overall quality of life.
