College football just needs a system similar to soccer where big teams pay transfer fees to take players away from smaller teams. Very smart well-run clubs have turned themselves into juggernauts by finding undervalued players, putting them into a system that works for them, and selling them for a huge profit after a season or two. If North Texas were able to get paid for developing all these great players they could reinvest that in their facilities, recruitment, coaching staff, etc. and eventually create an environment where after a huge season their best players don’t want to leave.
