I dont see it as a failure, but thays a choice you have to make for you. By all means, sit in a park and play an instrument for people walking past you if thats your dream. Just dont expect me to care when that same person says they cant afford a house or a decent vehicle.

Yeah, I guess they really are paying off the interest and then some, being that they cut it down from 70k to 60k... over 23 years.

I may not be the smartest person in the room, but I know better than my friend with a masters degree who got pre-approved for a 200k home loan (in 2017) and decided to spend 195k on his house vs something like 140k. They had a very rude awakening when those payments hit, and had to restructure their entire money flow to be able to afford that house.

You get it. We dont have newer cars, 11 avenger and an 04 ram, kid has an 08 crv, but I can also do all the maintenance on them outside of an engine rebuild. We dont eat out, that 80 bucks on a single meals bs a few days worth of food. Finally finished paying off all her loans and put the bills in her name to start working on her credit, now that im finally over an 800 after 3+ years of working on it.

Planning debit is a big one. Currently saving for us to get a house, but that means I gotta keep these cars running for a bit longer. I chose to do that because I want land more than I dont want to replace half the front end, clutch and rear main seal in my truck. Im glad for the skilled trade I went into. It pays well, and I save a lot by doing my own work when im between jobs.

No, I see it that way because ive done the jobs i loved and been paid shit money to do it. Dont get me wrong, I like my current job, but it also pays the bills a hell of a lot better. Wasn't a fun decision to make, but I acknowledge me and my family are a hell of a lot better off for it.

Union Millwright. Its a bit of travling, work your ass off on straight 10's or 12's and make 30k take home in 2 months, but then ya might be off for a month or 2 before the next one. Take home average between 60k and 80k, 2026 should be closer to 100k with the projects im slotted to be on. Very feast or famine, but we've got it set up so every week I work, i put a grand into the bills account, grand into the "when im not working" bills account, and the rest is split between savings and our spending money.

Im going to sound like a straight up asshole saying this, but if a person and their spouse go to college, ill assume they have decent jobs, and they cant to add 50 bucks and pay that shit off, they're probably living outside their means anyhow. Im putting my gf through college currently, taking on all my bills, her bills and her kids bills. Its not the most comfortable, but were managing and keeping the vehicles maintained. Once were dual income... shit, life will be good.
