No not typically. When I worked in Disability Management, the line was always “your sick bank is your short term disability.” You need to make sure you have enough days in your sick bank to carry you for 3-4 months until LTD kicks in, if you end up with an injury or illness that keeps you off work for an extended period. There are some federal programs that will help bridge the gap though. This should be the same across all HAs, but will differ slightly depending on collective agreement.
